After summer it was back to school that year in eighth grade and the idea was still there. At this time Andrew Faller, long time friend of Steve, was learning guitar on an old acoustic. Later in June '98 he got an electric, or maybe he got it in the spring but whatever. Also a bass player was being considered and there were alot of people being considered but another friend of Steve and Andrew, Robert Healy Conway( A.K.A. the asian menace) got a bass around the time Andrew got a guitar . So the set up was going to be Steve on guitar, which was a mistake becuase he sucked, Andrew on guitar, and Robert on bass. That didn't happen. That same season, Trevor got a drum set so the band ended up playing with him and somehow Steve got kicked out of that mix due to failing relationships and lack of skills. So that summer of '98 Nick went to Australia and Steve and Andrew started hanging out more like they used to. When Nick came back Andrew wanted to be in a band with us due to musical conflict with Robert and Trevor. Trevor comes in the picture again later. So "Gilligan and the Cosmonots" was born in September 98. The first bass player was Kate Reed, but that didn't work so she was moved to the imaginary horn section where Quinn Callahan was susposed to play trombone for us. She was our manager after that making flyers and food for us ( it was fun ). Mike Goldman was the bass player for a day after that. Then Justin Reed - who was 12 years old at the time - joined our band of freshmen hooligans playing NOFX covers and alot of different styles of punk. we changed our name to 3 Hour Tour in Febuary 1999 and played with this name and same members for a year. The songs were cheezy, straight to the point, and rock-(cock?)-tastic. Then, in February 2000, Justin Reed quit. A few days later the band decided to let Trevor Olexy play bass for the band. The first practice Trevor attends it is decided that the band be named Vanzetti 27. Around this time the band's main influences were old school hardcore and various punk-rock. We took our music in a more (fake)political direction...you know how it is. For a year up intill around March 2001 the band name Vanzetti 27 stayed. Name change was being disputed around this time. Over the year the style of music was becoming more emotionally charged hardcore. The time the band played together gave time to grow away from the 3hour tour days. So once again the name was changed to...time out of line. On our fourth name by this time, the band became more emotional and (at least for us) very fun; the music is more representative of what we feel as a band instead of what we try to sound like. Around April 2001 time out of line put out its first 8 song demo. There was one 3hour tour song on theCD called Greener Roads. It happened to be the last song written as 3HT. its become a favorite among the Kill the Human (Silver Spring hardcore) crew. Where is time out of line headed? Stay tuned...and please contact time out of line to rock the house in a house/room/bathroom/backyard/shithole near you. |
