2006 Rice Lake Invitational Tournament Recap
June 17-19
RICE LAKE INVITATIONAL HAS CO-CHAMPIONS

Their unbeaten season winning streak halted at 35 games in the winners bracket semi-final,
New Image Salon of Monfort advanced through the losers bracket to knock off tournament unbeaten Jordan Realty of West St. Paul 5-0 in the first championship game of the 28th annual Rice Lake Invitational Mens Fastpitch Tournament.  Because of the late hour and distances to be traveled by the two squads New Image and Jordan were declared 2006 tournament co-champions.
First time entry by Anderson Premier Homes of Oregon, the only team to defeat
New Image this season, placed third and five time champion Wilber Lime of Galesville finished fourth.
Jordan Realty rode the right arm of iron-man Kevin Kammueller to post triumphs over L-X of La Crosse 2-0, 4-1 over Stadium Club of Duluth, 3-2 in ten innings over Wilber Lime as third sacker Dave Marchio homered twice, and 5-3 over Anderson in the winners bracket final on the strength of a Marchio walk-off 8th inning two-run home run to advance to the championship contest.
New Image opened tournament play with a 7-0 victory over Harper & Harper of Duluth, and 7-3 over American Solutions for Business of Villard, Minnesota before falling to Anderson Homes 7-0.  They rebounded to oust defending champion Pate Bonding of West St. Paul  12-1, Wilber Lime 8-4, and gained revenge over Anderson by the score of 8-3, earning the right for a shot at the title.  The key hit in the battle was a three-run, fifth inning home run by winning pitcher Jeramie Holmans brother Brent.
The only local team in the event, Breckas Orangemen, finished a disappointing 0-3 after finishing in a fifth place tie a year ago.  Other tourney participants included Earls Club of Kenosha, Sawdust City of Eau Claire, Village Inn of North Hudson, J & D Tube Benders of Schofield, The Merchants of Wanderoos, The Bar of Appleton, and H & S Seal Coating of Waverly, Minnesota.
Named to the 2006 All-Tournament team were pitchers Kevin Kammueller of Jordan Realty,
Jeramie Holman of New Image, and Dave Meyers of Duluth Stadium Club; catchers Brad Shepherd of Pate Bonding and Tony Meidl of L-X; infielders Dave Marchio of Jordan Realty, Paul Skora of Earls Club, Bob Loshek of Wilber Lime, Chad Barfknect of L-X, Mike Applegate of Pate Bonding, and Scott McCloud of Stadium Club; outfielders Dale Horton of Earls Club, Jared Johnson of Anderson Homes, and Adam Busse [Bussan] of New Image.
