COMMUNITY, ARTS AND YOUTH CENTRES

At the moment there is over 120 Community, Arts and Youth Groups working in Ballymun.  These provide vital amenities to the people of Ballymun, especially children.  They also employ 330 people.  Youth clubs took up the slack created by the absence of other amenities.  They are important to the ongoing social environment of Ballymun.

Most of these clubs and centres operate out of the basements of the Flats.  But the Flats are going to be demolished.  So these centres will need new buildings.
A new Arts Centre is planned.  But there are no precise details of what this will look like or how many groups it will be able to hold.
It is possible that many groups will have nowhere to go.
We believe all existing groups should be accommodated in the new Ballymun.  This would recognise the incredible work they have done so far for Ballymun.  It would also ensure the continued social development of Ballymun.
(See What's New)

SO WON'T THEY GET A PLACE IN THE NEW BALLYMUN?
BRL has not provided detailed plans of how many or even if all groups will be accommodated.
In fact while 100 acres are given over to a Business and Technology Park
(even though BRL could use the existing industrial estate)
nobody knows how much total space is to be given to Ballymuns Community, Arts and Youth Centres.
