Campfire Pie Mold Recipes

The campfire pie mold, also known as a pie iron, is a long-handled device used for toasting two slices of bread with any type of filling between them. The pie iron is very easy to use when cooking over the campfire, and provides versatility in meal preparations. You may purchase a pie iron at most stores which carry camping supplies.

Choco-Cherry Toasted Treats

1 Tbsp. margarine or butter, softened
2 slices bread
2 Tbsp. canned cherry pie filling
2 tsp. miniature chocolate chips

Spread margarine on 1 side of each slice of bread. Place bread slice, margarine side down, in campfire pie cooker. Fill with pie filling and chocolate chips. Top with remaining slice of bread, margarine side up.

Secure handle on pie cooker; if necessary, trim off excess bread. cook over medium heat for 4 to 6 minutes or until bread is golden brown, turning once.

Recipe Variations

Double Berry Toasted Treats: Fill with 1 Tbsp. raspberry preserves and 2 Tbsp. raspberries.

Pepperoni Pizza: Fill with 2 Tbsp.pizza sauce, 4 slices pepperoni and 1 slice mozzarella cheese.

Roast Beef 'N Cheddar Toasted Treats: Lightly spread 1 slice of bread with horseradish sauce. top with 2 thin slices of cooked roast beef, 2 slices of onion, 1 slice of Cheddar cheese and second slice of bread.
