Dear Sir, The news item �THE BIG FIGHT� appearing on the front page of your esteemed daily dated 19th February 2007, reminds me of fiction TV serials designed to only entertain and enthrall the public but having no real-life value. While Soter D�Souza and Juino D�Souza, both fellow-Gaunkars of Serula Comunidade debate over the status of Porvorim, they are forgetting the real issues plaguing their Comunidade where the issue they are debating arises, and are entering into theatrics and concepts of philosophy and governance based on fiction and their own fertile imagination. The real problem plaguing their Comunidade is the unlawful settlement of populations within the area debated upon, falling in the private villages of the Comunidades of Serula and Pilerne. The question that ought to be debated by them should be: �Has the Government lawfully framed land record documents over the private lands belonging to the Village Comunidades which in turn have been responsible for promoting uncontrolled influx of outsiders into their village causing a strain on the resources and amenities in the village?� From their arguments one gets the impression that they are rushing to rescue the plunderer�s mother by abandoning their own mother (their Comunidade) in the hands of the plunderer!
