Until He Comes, Luke 12:35-38
"Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants."
What will you be doing until He comes? When Jesus returns for His church, will He find you unprepared, living to please yourself? Or will He find you diligently watching, awaiting His return, doing the will of the Father?
Jesus tells us that those whom He finds waiting when He comes will be blessed, whether He comes in the second or third watch. He will gird Himself and come forth and serve us-- serve us! Just as He washed the disciples' feet at Passover, He will come forth in meekness, humility, and love beyond all measure, and serve us, and we shall eat together: communion and fellowship with the Lord.
Many people will say that Christians have been claiming that Jesus' return is imminent for centuries now, and He hasn't appeared, doubting His impending return and scoffing at the idea of the day of God's judgement. But He will return-- whether you want to believe it or not. Jesus said that no man knows the day or the hour, but that we can tell the seasons, and by comparing current events with the prophecies of the Bible, we can know that the second coming of Christ is just around the corner.
Being that this is so, it is a foolish and unwise thing to waste any time that you have been giving here on earth on your own pleasures and such: time is running out, and millions upon millions are heading toward eternal destruction. We need to be spending our time serving the Lord, doing that which He calls you to do, with urgency. Time is short!
