9-11 Inspirations and Thoughts -Section Three...

ANGEL'S SONG
By D Lank-
a young man from colorado
who wrote this for columbine several years ago.
the pain of loss is overwhelming
unexpected suffering is intense
staring in the face of tragedy
with nothing making any sense
when life is taken much too soon
and in such a tragic way
when loved ones are called home
leaving us to cry and pray
we must believe in a reason
and be strong for those we love
and trust we'll meet again
the day we're called above
their hearts are held in heaven
their souls cradled in God's care
warm and safe in comfort
now it's Angel's songs they share

why oh why... we may never know
we must trust that God is fair
and have faith in His compassion
now it's Angel's songs they share

for those left behind to mourn
the healing must begin now
the families and community
must teach each other how
grief can cripple faith
we must help it to walk again
to climb the steps of heaven
and reach our loved ones then
we must listen with our hearts
for the Love that God is bringing
if we listen very closely
we'll hear all of heaven singing
their hearts are held in heaven
their souls cradled in God's care
warm and safe in comfort
now it's Angel's songs they share

why oh why... we may never know
we must trust that God is fair
and have faith in His compassion
now it's Angel's songs they share

A DAY LIKE NO OTHER
mark viglione
10 march 2002
A day we thought would be
just another,
Turned out to be a day like no
other.
We saw the horror with our
very own eyes.
As we listened to our loved
ones' desperate cries.
Everything we thought of as
our deepest, darkest fears,
Became a true reality with the
shed of our tears.
Our minds were confused and
our hearts filled with sorrow,
Aswe lookedupon today and
feared what would come tomor-
row.
The Bravest and the Finest
knew exactly what to do,
They shifter through the rubble
but they only found a few.
The terrorists completed their
mission by taking innocent lives
away,
But now they have to realize
there's a hefty price to pay.
This is by far the worst dias-
ter we have ever known,
But we stand together in this
fight so no one is alone.
We know it may take time
before this ugly war has ended,
But all the broken pieces will
eventually be mended.
In this time of remorse we'll
continue to stand tall,
And live with liberty and jus-
tice for all.
There are many things left
that we muct carry out,
But before anything's done we
must proudly shout:
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

THE TWINS, CANDLES, FLOWERS AND TEARS
by john clifton davis

It wasn't just because they had all that shiny glass and steel,
or because they had such fantastic height.
It wasn't just because we had become used to seeing them
there every day,
or because they looked so lovely when they were lit up at night.
It wasn't just because of their crowing glory,
The wonderful Windows on the World
with its breath-taking view that we could see from above,
or because of their many splendid shops and restaurants
that we could patronize below>
No, it was much more than that which makes us miss them so,
for as the two greatest landmarks of our greatest city,
they stood out for all to see and admire, for they were so inspiring
as they rose above the ordinary into the extraordinary,
seeminy reaching for stars, as they challenged us
and the rest of the world to do likewise.
Yes, we miss the twins,
but even more do we miss all the innocent people
who never had a chance that fateful day.
It is for them we light candles, bring flowers, shed tears,
and perhaps find some comfort in the fact that in so many way,
they live on in the memory of those amoung us
who knew them, loved them and shall never forget them.
THE AFTERMATH OF SEPT. 11
by john clifton davis
10 october 2001

Pray for the walking wounded
for they no gentle sleep
because the nightmare they
knew
will not go away
and the wounds they bear are
deep.
They are as we
and we as they.
May God help us all a we face
the new day!

a reminder that some wounds never heal
and that people should forever be sensitive
to the victims' families and those who volunteered.
