YOU ANSWERED YOUR LAST CALL
Dedicated to the brave NYC firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty
September 11, 2001 at the World Trade disaster

I remember the alarm on that fateful day, as we responded in haste, to be carried away. With sirens screaming our advancing pace, we answered the call by taking our place. We have answered this call many times before, you see it's our job, we expect no less, no more. We know the danger that comes with the quest, but we answered that call, by doing our best.

We are armed with the weapons of life saving gear, the voices of so many calling us near. Then we arrive at this God-awful sight, the towers ablaze, no time for fear, just fight. This was an act of evil, so may Souls could be lost, we must strive to save as many, at whatever the cost. Into the lobby, and then down the hall, I rush up the steps, to answer the call.

My heart is now pounding, the sweat pours down my face, but I keep moving at a life saving pace. Shouting out orders as I continue my quest, "GET DOWN, KEEP MOVING!" I shout, "PLEASE GOD! HELP ME!". I'm doing my best.

Then all at once I hear a thunderous roar from above, my life flashes before me images of those whom I love. Then out of nowhere I am led by the hand, by this unknown person, who is this man? He carried me out of this inferno from hell, as he lifted my Soul, just when everything fell.

Now I am at peace, just comfort - no pain, who is this man who offered his hand when my tears fell like rain? I now stand before this bright Heavenly light, to raise my head and ask, who is this man who came to my plight?

Then, I hear a voice from above as my eyes roam, "My son, do not fear for He has taken you home." "He is just like you, you see He answered My call. He was just doing his job, giving His all."

"His boots and His helmet were supplied from above, and His power and strength came from those that you love." "You see, even up here when the alarm bell rings, They answer your call These Firefighters with wings."

"He carried you away from that horrible place, when you cried out to Me, for My love and My grace." "Your mission is over my son, you answered your last call, you saved so many lives, walk tall and be proud."

"My son, take my hand and walk into the light, and dwell with Me forever in God's Heavenly Might."

9-11 ALL HEROES ARE NOT PEOPLE
This is a true story which happened on 9-11-01

James Crane worked on the 101st of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. With tears in her eyes she darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke he was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James' boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112.

On her first run of the building, she leads James, James' boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn't through yet. She knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James' wishes she ran back into the building. On her second run, she saved 392 lives.

Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees in tears. Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. "She lead us right to the people, before she got injured" the fireman explained. Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives.

The next week, Mayor Guilaini rewards Daisy with the Canine medal of Honor of New York. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win such an honor.

IF I KNEW
source unkown
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you," and certainly there's
another chance to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
In memory of all those who perished; the passengers, crews, and pilots on the United Air and AA flights, the workers in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and all the innocent bystanders. My prayers go out to the friends and families of the deceased and injured.

"HOPE FOR TODAY WITH A TOMORROW"
By Roberta Hower
Once the smoke cleared
The scene was replayed
in slow motion
over and over again
to the Americans that were left behind

Emotionally scarred by
the tragedy they had watched
in horror and despair...

Shattered hopes and dreams
Tear-streaked faces

Families longing for hugs and embraces

Holding onto yesterday
While today is still a blur

An empty chair at the kitchen table.
A candlelight vigil in the night.
A makeshift bulletin board
with names and faces
of those whose lives
were lost in this plight...

Americans need something to hold onto
To make their today a tomorrow

End the terrorism
Stop the curse
Hold your children...
to the promise of a today with a tomorrow...

An empty chair at the kitchen table.
A candlilight vigil in the night.
A makeshift bulletin board
with names and faces
of those whose lives
were lost in this plight...
And the hope of a today with a tomorrow...
This poem is dedicated to those who have lost a loved one in recent World Trade Center tragedy. I know that our lives are forever changed...

SIX YEARS TO BUILD , SIX SECONDS TO FALL
A Poem by L. Lehrhaupt
Almost a small city with thousands inside.
There was no place to run. No place to hide.
There they stood so proud. So straight, so tall.
Six years to build, six seconds to fall.

Who could imagine on the eleventh day of September.
An evil so ugly, we would always remember.
Innocent people living their lives.
Brothers, sisters, husbands and wives.

Just flying and sitting, strapped in their place.
When these terrible villians changed the whole human race.
There was fighting and cutting there was some striking back
But the monsters were precise in their deadly attack.

Just how to defeat them? Passengers asked on the cell.
With great courage and force they tried to rebel.
The last moments of life are too painful to comprehend
The terror, the grief a whole life about to end.

The jet flew directly to Big Apple's heart.
They torn into the steel and blew the tower apart.
Some went up to the roof to escape from the blast.
They knew nothing of collapsing buildings in the past.

Here came number two, right on target with the scheme.
We all starred in horror, could this be a dream.
Help go and get them the firemen flew.
And then down came tower number 2.

On television it looked like the color was broke.
Everything was gray from the fire and smoke.
Then came tower number one down to the earth
The two skyscapers were now just rumble and dirt.

And oh how the monsters must have chuckled to see their success.
To think that they had created this whole mess.
Yes, you can laugh and celebrate, dance and sing.
You can rejoice in the death and all the sadness it brings.

But just remember the building, we thought forever would stand.
Made of metal, cement the toughest stuff in the land.
They too stood proud, so high, so tall.
Six years to build, six seconds to fall.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
A Poem by L. Lehrhaupt
When tomorrow starts without me....
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes,
All filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterday's,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile. That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow,
But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each days the same way
There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts whithout me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

WHERE WAS YOUR GOD?
this was sent to me in email
A letter was sent to me asking "If there really is a GOD, how could He allow this to happen? Where was HE?"

How many of us have heard that question "Where was your GOD when the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was attacked?" Well I know where my GOD was the morning of September 11, 2001 and He was
very busy!

He was trying to discourage anyone from taking these flights. Those four flights together held over 1000 passengers and there were only 266 board.

He was on 4 commercial flights giving terrified passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the family members who were called by a loved one on one of the high-jacked planes said that passengers were screaming in the background. On one of the flights He was giving strength to passengers to "try" to overtake the high-jackers.

He was busy trying to create obstacles for employees at the World Trade Center. After all, only around 20,000 were at the towers when the 1st jet hit. Since the buildings held over 50,000 workers, this was a Miracle in itself. How many of the people who were employed at the World Trade Center told the media that they were late for work or they had traffic delays.

He was holding up "2" 110 story buildings so that 2/3 of the workers "could" get out. I was so amazed that the top of the towers didn't topple when the jets impacted. And when they did fall, they fell inward. GOD didn't allow them to topple over, as many more lives would have been lost.

And when the buildings went down, my GOD picked up almost 6,000 of His children and carried them home with Him ! Reassuring His frighten children that the worst was over and the "best" was yet to come.

He sat down and cried that 19 of His children could have so much hate in their hearts. That they didn't choose Him, but another god that doesn't exist, and now they are lost forever.

He sent His children, that are best trained for this disaster and had them save the few that were still alive, but unable to help themselves. And then sent many others to help in anyway they were needed.

He still isn't finished though, He held the loved ones that were left behind in His arms. He comforts them daily. His other children are given the strength to reach out to them and help them in any way they can.

And I believe He will continue to help us in what "is" yet to come. He will give the people in charge of this great nation the strength and the wisdom to do the right thing. He would never leave us in our time of need.

So when anyone asks, "Where was your GOD on September 11", you can say "everywhere"! And yes, although this is without a doubt the worst thing I have seen in my life, I see God's miracles in every bit of it. I keep praying for those who don't believe in GOD, every chance I have. I can't imagine going through such a difficult time and not believing in GOD.
Life would be hopeless.
May God Bless Our World .......
this really hits home for me as i was supposed to meet a friend at the wtc for breakfast.
still counting my blessings i had to work at the last minute.

A PRAYER FOR SERVICE WO(MAN)
This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa Japan

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

U-VILLE
An inspirational
By Seusian Tribute

Every U down in Uville liked U.S. a lot,
But the Binch, who lived Far East of Uville, did not.
The Binch hated U.S! the whole U.S. way!
Now don't ask me why, for nobody can say.
It could be his turban was screwed on too tight,
Or the sun from the desert had beaten too bright.
But I think that the most likely reason of all,
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.
But, Whatever the reason, his heart or his turban,
He stood facing Uville, the part that was urban.
"They're doing their business," he snarled from his perch,
"They're raising their families! They're going to church!"
"They're leading the world, and their empire is thriving,
I MUST keep the S's and U's from surviving!"
Tomorrow, he knew, all the U's and the S's,
Would put on their pants and their shirts and their dresses.
They'd go to their offices, playgrounds and schools,
And abide by their U and S values and rules.
And then they'd do something he liked least of all,
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small.
They would stand all united, each U and each S,
And they'd sing Uville's anthem, "God bless us! God bless!"
All around their Twin Towers of Uville they'd stand,
and their voices would drown every sound in the land.
"I must stop that singing," Binch said with a smirk,
And he had an idea--an idea that might work!
The Binch stole some U airplanes in U morning hours,
And crashed them right into the Uville Twin Towers.
"They'll wake to disaster!" he snickered so sour,
"And how can they sing when they can't find a tower?"
The Binch cocked his ear as they woke from their sleeping,
All set to enjoy their U-wailing and weeping.
Instead he heard something that started quite low,
And it built up quite slow, but it started to grow--
And the Binch heard the most unpredictable thing...
And he couldn't believe it--they started to sing!
He stared down at U-ville, not trusting his eyes,
What he saw was a shocking, disgusting surprise!
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing without any towers at all!
He HADN'T stopped U-Ville from singing!It sung!
For down deep in the hearts of the old and the young,
Those Twin Towers were standing, called Hope and called Pride,
And you can't smash the towers we hold deep inside.
So we circle the sites where our heroes did fall,
With a hand in each hand of the tall and the small.
And we mourn for our losses while knowing we'll cope,
For we still have inside that U-Pride and U-Hope.
For America means a bit more than tall towers,
It means more than wealth or political powers.
It's more than our enemies ever could guess,
So may God bless America! Bless us! God bless!

ETHICS
this was written by a columbine (colorado) high school student

The paradox of our time in history is that we have
taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgment;
more experts, but less solutions;
more medicine, but less wellness.
We have multiplied our possessions,
but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
we've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.

We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
we've split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We have higher incomes, but lower morals;
we've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of tall men, and short character;
steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
more leisure, but less fun;
more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes.
It is a time when there is much in the show window
and nothing in the stockroom;
a time when technology can bring this post to you,
and a time when you can choose to share this message and make a difference...

or not...
