ALS Awareness Ribbon
ALS Awareness Ribbon

Inspired by the Yankee's pinstripe uniform worn by Lou Gehrig, the Navy Pinstripe has become the awareness ribbon for ALS.

About This Project

This website was created using Notepad and ArcSoft PhotoStudio 2000 in an attempt to raise awareness on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis by increasing understanding of the disease. By using a navigation system of links on the left and bottom sides of the page, this site includes information on nerves, ALS' history, symptoms, forms, causes, diagnosis, treatment, research, and various facts/statistics. In addition, there is an article on a young man who lost his battle with ALS. Lastly, the credits page provides a list of sources used in the creation of the project, and is recommended as an additional resource for anyone interested in learning more about ALS.

The targeted audience for this site is anyone who wishes to learn about ALS. Information is given in such a way that, hopefully, it is easy for the average person to understand, even through some of the more difficult scientific content. In the end, one should leave with a sense that the future shows promise for people with ALS, but for now, the disease and its horrible effects are very real.

For the annotated bibliography, image credits, and mentorship description, they can be found at the credits page.
