STATISTICAL METHODS This is an elementary course in Research Methods I (Statistics) for graduate in Educational Administration, Public Management, Business Management, and Vocational/Technical Education. This course deals with basic concepts, principles, techniques and procedures used in conducting basic applied research in the behavioral, technical and technological fields. Part I treats of gathering and presenting numerical. Part II deals with statistical description of quantitative data; and Part III involves statistical inference. Included in the last part is the testing of hypotheses. Two approaches will be utilized, the first approach treats of classical methods of testing hypotheses while the second approach utilizes the decision-making approach of testing. A comparison and contrast of the two approach will be made. EM 211
RESEARCH METHODS Deals on the study of methods and procedures of constructing research designs including sampling techniques, descriptive, casual-analytic, evaluative, historical, and experimental designs. EM 212
PHYLOSOPHICAL,PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL
FOUNDATIONS
OF EDUCATION This course is a study of different philosophies that centers on the education of the whole man. The philosophy is thought of as a more sophisticated kind of process that a systematic and comprehensive view of the world, whereby one goes beyond analysis and proceeds towards the reconstruction of a belief or a value system. This course aims to help students from a philosophy that leads to self-awareness and to self-criticism of one�s ideas, actions and purposes in the educational process. Further, this course questions, critisizes and and evaluates educational theories and practices. Such analysis aims finally to logically lend directions to what we aspire to achieve in education. It also covers a study of facts, theories and principles of psychology which are analyzed with reference particularly to their applications and implementation in school situation. This includes the learner and his development, learning, classroom management, and psychology applied to Philippine setting. The course also deals on school systems which will be viewed from each perspective as complex bureaucratic organization which are unavoidable involved in the rapid social changes occuring in sociological issues which would make the present educational systems more effectively understood than it had in the past. PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT Covers concepts, theories and principles of curriculum planning and development with emphasis on how to design relevant and functional curricular programs to enhance quality education. Analyses different approach to curriculum designing and utilizes the new thrust and current issues in our educational system as the framework of discussion. EM 231
EDUCATION AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT This is an introductory course to educational planning focusing on the theoretical and emirically ascertained relationship between education and national development. It primarily deals with the conceptualization of national development from the economic, sociological, political, and other viewpoints. EM 213

EDUC�L INSTITUTION This course is an in-depth study of the principles as well as the practices in the organization and management of educational institutions. Specifically, the major management functions, namely, planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling will be the central focus. For background purposes, the beginning of management philosophy and values and related topics will be examined and analyzed. EM 222
COMMUNICATIONS IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT This course covers the study and analysis of communication concepts, theories and processes and their relevance to educational management. It will examine social, psychological, cultural and organizational variables that facilitate or impede the communication flow in organizations. EM 223

HUMAN BEHAVIOUR IN ORGANIZATION The study of structures and processes of human behaviour in organizations as based on theories, models, and principle of individual, group and organizational studies that have bearings on social and interpersonal relationship, supervision and motivation or personnel-staff workers. SEMINAR IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT As an integrating course in the graduate curriculum of educational administration, this seminar in educational management is a study of the interrelationship of the various traditional elements of administration, eg., human behavior, organization and management. Academic to this approach is the assumption that theories, concepts and strategies which could be extracted from the aforementioned areas coverage at a certain focal point the educational manager managing an educational institution. Relevant to the above-mentioned focus, is a second assumption that educational management with its basic elements to the existing state of affairs of a given society. This course, therefore, is designed to critically analyze and evaluate the existing state of knowledge in educational administration as well as its usefulness and limitations when applied to contemporary concern of governments. CURRENT ISSUES and PROBLEMS IN EDUCATIONS This course focuses its discussions on the growth and development of Industrial Education as a vital segment of Philippine Education through pertinent legislation, reports, studies, and surveys governing education in the Philippines. It covers an analysis of the present trends, issues and problems and present plans and programs affecting industrial education in particular and the Philippine Education in general. EM 220
EDUCATIONAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT This course delves into the theories and principles of planning as they apply to educational institutions. Planning is a fundamental function of management. For without the activities assembled and crafted through planning, there is no need to control. Planning is vital to organizing, directing, and controlling. It is essential at all management levels - top, middle and lower levels - as well as the level of implementors. EM 232
ECOLOGY OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION This course surveys the basic theories and principles of management as they apply to public agencies and educational institutions. Environmental concern is an important dimension in investigating the relevance of management theories and principles in various setting. Thus, an in-depth examination of economic, social, political, cultural and technological factors existing in the environment in relation to organizational policies and decisions, administrative practices and behaviour constitute the the core of this course. By probing into the interrelationship between and among public and private organizations, on one hand, and the political, economic, social and cultural environment, on other hand, one will be able to gain an appreciable realization of the pressures and forces that effect the manager�s job in any organizational setting, It also integrates environmental education which focuses on environment issues and concerns and strategies in the preservation and conservation of the environment. LEGAL FOUNDATION OF EDUCATION This course introduces the students to the legal bases of education in the Philippine setting. It covers the analytical study of enacted laws, implementing rules and regulations of these laws, department orders and issuances, jurisprudence and other legal sources that are directly related to education or whose provisions affect education. It includes the study of provisions from laws relevant to education and to those who are part of the educational community such as teachers, administrators, non-teaching staff, parents and alumni of schools and educational institutions both private and public. It likewise covers the study of varied issuances from administrative agencies with education agenda or directly mandated to regulate and supervise education in different levels in the country. EM 241
VALUES EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS Discussions of issues, problems and concerns in morality and spirituality in public service. It includes the concept and principles of �kabuuan�, �Pamahalaan�, and �Sambayanihan� ethical leadership and professionalism.
