Treatment
- Surgery to remove problematic growths or tumors
- Chemotherapy or radiation if a tumor has turned malignant or cancerous
- Surgery may also help some bone problems, like scoliosis
- Aggressive treatment of associated pain
- Therapy (including physical therapy, counseling or support groups)
- Cataract removal surgery
Diagnoses
- Six or more café au lait spots
- Two or more neurofibromas
- Freckling in unusaul areas such as armpits
- Optic glioma
- Scoliosis
- Mom or dad has been diagnosed
