Chapter 2

“Nethya…”
     “Nethya.”
     “Nethya, wake up.”
Nethya slowly opened her eyes and saw that the morning had come. She sat up and found herself staring into the gaze of Crovax.
“What do you want?” Nethya quizzed.
“We have found Teeka…” Crovax trailed off, “or what’s left of her.”
     “Where is she?” Nethya asked.
“About half a days march from here.” Crovax replied.
“Take me to her.” Nethya said with a silent resolve.
“Okay, but it’s rather gruesome.” Crovax exclaimed.

As the two comrades marched on Nethya noticed how silent the forest was. Usually it was too noisy for her tastes but today she could hear nothing but the wind, and Crovax’s breathing. As they neared Teeka’s decimated body. Nethya let out a sob. And fell to her knees and wept. After Nethya finished grieving over the loss of her good friend she turned to Crovax, “what could have done this?”
“We believe that it was the rebel kavu that have been seen around here.” Crovax said.
Crovax pointed to the body and stated, “If you look closely at the skull you can see that it was crushed and the parts that are large enough to actually leave some evidence they have large bite marks on them. Also if you look at the ground there is a trail of footprints leading north. They look unmistakably like kavu foot prints.”
Tears streaming from her eyes Nethya raged, “how could they do this? Teeka was like a sister to me. I am going to hunt them down and destroy them.” She closes her eyes and calls upon the memories of her homelands; the endless plains that stretched on for what seemed an eternity. The air around Nethya becomes charged with electricity and before them appeared a group of creatures that consisted mainly of lions and griffins. Without another word Nethya took her small party and followed the path that the footprints had marked out.
