UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES
HAEINSA TEMPLE:. This temple contains over 80,000 wooden pannel with buddhist scriptures that has been well preserved since the year 1237 during the Shilla Kingdom era. We call these books the Tripitika Koreana, which is the most complete collections of Buddhist texts. Buddhists from all over the world visit Haeinsa because you can never find this type of collection anywhere else except Korea. The temple is very artistic and is hidden in the Gaya Mountains. The reason why it's hidden is because when they first built this type of library in Korea, The Monguls destroyed and burned down everything. So they had to restart it again in a place where it would be safe.
HWASEONG SUWON FORTRESS: Established in September 1796 by King Jeongjo (The 22nd King of Chosun) It was created to protect against enemies and the city of Suwon where the King's father's burial is located. It is considered one of the best preserved and well planned out fortress in the world.
JONGMYO SHRINE: This is the oldest and most authentic of the Confucian royal shrines in Asia. When it was built, Jongmyo's main hall had the longest floor space of any contemporary wooden building in the world. Ritual ceremonies such as music and dances still take place there, a tradition that goes back to the 14th century. This place kept all records of the rare dances, music, and rituals. from Korea's Choson Kingdom.
SEOKURAM GROTTO: This is a statue of Buddha created during the Shilla Kingdom in Korea. Completed in 774 AD, this statue was hand made in an artificially made cavern.  It consists of a rectangular antechamber symbolizing the earth, a corridor acting as a conduit between earth and heaven, and a main rotunda with a domed ceiling representing heaven. Including the seated main Buddha, the grotto enshrines some 39 divinities. Each carved faces on the walls tells a story and they are all pictures of Buddha. It is considered one of the finest examples of buddhist statues in the world.
BULGUKSA TEMPLE: Located in Kyongju, this is one of the most famous Korean Temple because it has existed for more than 1000 years! It was built during the Shilla Dynasty, which unified Korea. It was considered into UNESCO in 1995.
