A joyous day for the city of PyeongChang and Gangwon Province. Muju's ski resort was inspected by the FIS and it was recomended by the officials that Muju wasn't capable of hosting the Winter Olympics. Most of the negative points came from environmental affect. So this means, PyeongChang will be the only sole candidate running to be Korea's bid city so far. But most likely, PyeongChang will become selected by the Korean Olympic Committee.

Unfortunately for PyeongChang, the city didn't win the right to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Instead, the 2010 host was named Vancouver, which has a history of organizing many winter sport events and having world class venues known around the world.
The three cities made their last presentation in Prague today. In the first round, PyeongChang won by recieving 51 votes, Vancouver 40 votes, and Salzburg with 16 votes. Thus, Salzburg was taken out in the first round. In the second round, Vancouver recieved 56 votes and PyeongChang recieved 53. So by a 3 vote difference, Vancouver won the Olympic Bid.
Despite the loss, PyeongChang did very well as an unknown city at first that emerged as a competitive rival city. Maybe there's a chance in 2014....
