Week 2: Jets vs Seahawks

As I've said in the last coach season, the Seattle Seahawks don't seem like a real threat. They might be able to throw on me, but their defense is more mediocre than mine. Not even the legendary Kelly Stouffer could save them from defeat in week 2.

Brian's lucky he got out of this tussle alive.

1st Quarter

After a huge 59-yard pass to Rob Moore that brought me down to the 7, it took me three tries to get Freeman McNeil in the endzone. Chris Warren somehow took the ensuing kick down to the Jets 15 yard line, but after 3 terrible plays they kicked a field goal. On my next drive, I also ran 3 terrible plays and brought Joe Prokop onto the field to punt. 7-3 Jets.

2nd Quarter

Had Tommy Kane carried his knife with him we would have seen Stouffer on the field after Dave Krieg's pass, which went over Tommy's head and into the hands of Brian Washington. However, all was wasted as I went 3-and-out after the interception, thanks to my crappy running game. On the next drive, Brian Blades made a leaping catch and brought the Seahawks to the New York 24 yard line, then John L Williams ran off-tackle for a 2-yard score a few plays later. 10-7 Seahawks.

Halftime

I'm losing. I know it's only a 3-point deficit, but I'm still losing. And for a team like the New York Jets that could seem like 3-point deficit in the NHL. Well, the old NHL, where it was legal to rape a player at center ice. But that's for another day.

So, is that why they call him "Looney Toon?"

3rd Quarter

Seattle started the 3rd with the old "up the middle with Derrick Fenner and 2 throws to covered receivers" routine, which resulted in another Rick Donnelly appearance. Blair Thomas juiced up at halftime and roared down the field with gains of 11 and 20, and Al Toon finished the drive with a diving catch that went 44 yards for a touchdown. 14-10 Jets.

4th Quarter

It didn't take very long for the Seahawks to punt again, but then Blair's roids wore off and I punted it right back. Johnny L gained 20 yards on the next play, but Krieg followed that up with 4 passes that Rod Woodson would have easily intercepted. Luckily for him, he was throwing to the Jets' secondary, but I still ended up with the ball at my 40 yard line after a turnover on downs. Nothing else exciting happened after that because I just ran the ball and ate up the clock.

Final

Well, I can't say it was a great game. Hell, I can't even say it was a good game. I'd say it's a stretch to even call this a game. It was more like 22 men stumbling all over the field, somehow finding the endzone on a couple occasions.

Player of the Game: Joe Prokop
3 punts 114 yards 1 touchback

I can't think of anyone else who had a better game. Without Prokop, the Seahawks would've had good field position, and thus would've had a better chance of stumbling into the endzone. For some reason the game doesn't count touchbacks as real punts, so he probably has about 40 more yards than that (not like you care or anything).
