37. Kaleidoscope-Event Athen

Original Report written by Dirk Blencke.

(bad translation by Nikolai C. Kuttler)

We arrived Thursday evening, because we got no better flight for Friday’s arrival. The day we used to hang around enjoying the sun and to swim. The hotel was about 18 km away from Athen and around the hotel was just nothing. But the hotel was direct on the beach J

Friday afternoon was the official welcome done by Patrick. Something to drink was served. Then we went to a short sightseeing-tour and a city-walk (together with 3 body-guards – feeling like a VIP !) to the “Plaka”. A small restaurant was our target where we had dinner, music and Sirtaki – some of us where victims and had to dance.

Saturday morning we woke up very early, because the programme was very hard. In the restaurant where we had dinner yesterday we met the Greek Club-Members and we had a short lunch / breakfast. The fish-market was the next station… here we got our watch. Typical SWATCH-CHAOS – everyone want his watch first. Some TV-Teams and photographs were also involved in this crowd.

The Event themselves were at the Akropolis. We went there and saw an exhibition with some sculptures made by sportsmen, artists and some celebrities. We also had the chance to built our own sculpture with Swatch-Parts, but the source of this parts were not secured, therefore we got nearly no material for our own statue.

The opening ceremony was held by Hayek sen. and jun., a member of the IOC, 2 Greek-politicans and… CARL LEWIS (!).

In the evening we had a nice dinner at a restaurant direct at seaside. There we saw a nice presentation of the new Diaphane-Collection held by a Swatch-Product-Manager.

It was – as everytime – very nice and I’m happy to join also the event in London.

(Same with me, I will also go to London – hopefully – and I will say “Thank you” to Dirk for this report !)

The watch is available in 5 different colors: blue, green, brown, black and gold. Included in the package is a kaleidoscope.

Photos from the event you’ll get here.
