03. Something about SWATCH

Edition: 2002-12-09 *updated*

309. Club Mission 2002 London

1. Day: Friday

I was able to join the “007”-Event ! Dear Secret Agents... As you may know: You only live twice !

Of course it was a “Secret Event”, we only got more information while joining Tea-Time and an “Agent’s Briefing” which started 5:00 p.m. in the hotel. James Maxwell from Swatch UK welcomes everyone, Patrick Jaron (“Deputy”) Head of Swatch Club International did a speech and introduced Lynn Bolton from "Head of Heights". This Company did most of the work for the event.

An “Agent Instructor” named 5 (or even 6 ? – I’m not sure, be patient) Team-Leaders and we should divide into this Teams. A lot of nationalities were in my Group: Team-Leader Dutch, other countries such as Austria, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal were also involved. Should I represent the BND or “only” Germany ? Well, the first is not official… Also Malaysia (!) was represented. Hopefully I don’t forget a Nation. Totally international and only one aim: having fun and maybe be better than the other groups in the tasks following tomorrow. Yellow team for foreign affairs J. Of course also French Agents, English Ladies and Gentlemen, Italian (Secret-Service-)Members were arrived in London. Now I think I named a lot of Nations, if anyone will complain his Nation is missing – drop me a line. But – hey… we’re all human (or is mankind the right word) and we’re living in the 21. century, so is it really important which Nationality you may have ? Ok… the Swiss are really special J.

A lot of Nationalities living in London, capital city of the Commonwealth, and we went to a sightseeing-tour in this great metropolis by “cabriolet-busses” as next part of the program. Supper were given in a Picnic-basket while this tour… we all were very hungry, not only because of the feeling, we all want a second basket because SWATCH is printed on the lid ! Chicken salad with Green Beans, Olives, Capers and Baby Tomatoes “with a touch of Chilli Dressing” (really ? – I don’t remember it spicy !), also Bulgar Wheat Salad with Red Pepper, Cucumber, Mint and Sunflower Seeds stands on the menu-card. Well, believe this, I don’t want to look in the dictionary if this is really the menu. As dessert white chocolate and hazelnut brownies were given. Mixed everything with exhaust emission… really bad traffic in this town. But best weather… so the prejudice is/was wrong and the umbrella we received with the welcome package was only to protect for the sun.

Joining a traditional English Pub (we do had an excellent insider in our group… you all know him from a Swatch advertising campaign…) the evening ended. And you know when the pub close in Great Britain ?! It was in this case not the worst thing, because…

Saturday we had to stand up very early in the morning… read more here.
