Model: 81 VW Rabbit
This is the car I ditched for my Neon which is happily rolling up it's 120,000 th
mile with no major problems.
The rabbit? hoo boy!
Let's start with:

A front end so bad that you couldn't steer when it went over bumps.

A mystery leak in the windshield thast drained into the fuse box, meaning that you'd have
to shake water out of the variious relays down there just to get it to start up.

A fry-o-matic ignition system, that would decide to cook the wires when the key was turned,
leaving the driver with a handsome rewiring job to do.

A mystery short in the electrical system that would prefer to manifest itself at 65 miles an hour
in the fast lane of the local interstate. The cure? Punch the dash...hard. Then it
would come on, shut down and come back on with another punch.

The car only came with ""Passive Restriant" shoulder belts. It had no lap belts and looked like
there were no provisions for them! One good panic stop or impact and goodbye head!

The emergency brake worked when I put a brick under the handle. Turns out VW made two different
hand brake assemblies. You didn't find out until you got it appart!!!

30,000 miles = two blown timing belts.

The interior rang like bell after hitting a pothole or big bump.

The metal piece holding up the passengers window rusted through, meaning that it only went part way
down and wouldn't go up.

the fuel injection only knew one setting...rich. The result, backfire that scared
pedestrians and attracted cops

when someone broke into it in New York City, they left the car and everyhting in it!

The heater switch blew.

I'm not sure if I wasted any film on this bad boy before I sent it to the crusher....surprisingly,
it was all one color and not rusty. That's why I made the mistake of buying it!!!
