The Battle Dome

The web's best Battle Dome  reference!

I spent a lot of time gathering all the BD info I could that's lying around the net in scattered bits and pieces. Hope this helps you in your conquests of Neopia!

..Basic.Play..
Fighting in the Battle Dome is pretty simple. Here's a pic:

To use an item you've equipped your pet with, click on it, you can only use two at a time. Then use the drop-down menu to chose what kind of attack you want to do. Then click Go. That's it. Told you it was simple!

Budget/Newbie Items

For people new to neopets or who have very little NP and relatively week pets. This category covers items up to 1,000 NP
Caustic Potion -   (avg. 400np)  Limited Use
Attack 1-5 HP
A very cheap item that is perfect for new battlers who may only have 9 or 10 HP, using this at the end of a battle could tip it in your favor by healing your pet up to 5 HP and doing a good amount of earth damage. The only limitation is you can only use it once per battle.
Large Metal Shield -   (avg. 500np)  Endless Use
Attack
Used by newcomers to the battledome and battle masters alike, for this price you simply will not find a better defensive item giving a good range of blocking power. If you need Light defence, consider buying a Silver Scorchstone for around 3,000 NP which will defend Water Light & Air.
Mad Clock -   (avg. 700np)  Endless Use
Possible Attack 1
Possible Attack 2
If you are new to neopets buy one of these, 5 icons for 700 NP is very good for an endless use item. In testing this was doing 1 or 2 HP less damage than an Attack Fork, costing 14,000 NP less, this is great value for money but not powerful enough if you decide to become a more serious battler.
Soul Stone -   (avg. 1,000np)  Endless Use
Attack - All
I have added this defensive weapon because I am seeing more and more earth attacks in the dome, this thing will completely block all earth icons making it a useful shield for all battlers. It will completely stop the attacks of among others, the Caustic Potion, Battle Potato, Staff Of The Earth Faerie and Carrot Blade. It also takes the sting out of 5 types of Snowball, Tiki Bombs, Moon Staff, Dirty Snow, Brain Tree Splinters and Noxious Nectars. Of course you have to anticipate if you think your opponent is going to throw two Caustic Potions at you, but if you do, it is very funny to look at all those Earth Defend icons at the bottom :D
Sparkshooter -   (avg. 100np)  Endless Use
Attack
No, don't laugh, it may be the ultimate budget item but it does do three icons of damage and if you have just created your account and want to get started straight away or you want to fill up some empty weapon slots, for under 100 NP, you wont even notice you have bought it.
Sticky Snowball -   (avg. 150np)  One Use
Possible Attack 1
Possible Attack 2
The joint most powerful snowball does tons of damage and what is great is you can pick them up for only 150 NP! Throwing one of these will help any pet win a battle by dealing almost as much damage as a Tiki Bomb. Personally, I try to always have one of these on me in a fight. It's worth mentioning that a Snow Mud Ball does exactly the same damage as this, but at writing, Sticky Snowballs were 5 times cheaper.

Mid Range Items
The best items that can be bought in peoples shops (Up to 100,000 NP) these will benefit all battlers who can afford them, be careful when buying items not on this list as some items cost a lot simply because they are rare. A large price tag does not guarantee large damage.
Attack Fork -   (avg. 15,000np)  Endless Use
Possible Attack 1
Possible Attack 2
This weapon deals a good range of damage making it harder to block, the advantage of it also blocking some fire or light is a plus point, If you don't think you will ever be able to save enough for a Grand Lightning Beam, go for one of these as it is almost as powerful, but half as expensive. Its also worth mentioning that works great in conjunction to a Grand Lightning Beam giving a wide spectrum of light, fire, physical, water and darkness damage.
Bronze Scorchstone -   (avg. 8,000np)  One Use per Battle
Attack 15 HP
15 HP can heal a entry level pet to full health and when you consider a Red Scorchstone (Heals 20 HP) costs 40,000 NP, your getting a bargain at only 8,000 NP. If your max HP is less than 25 this is the best healing weapon to get, after that healing inevitability becomes quite expensive. You may only equip one Scorchstone
Genie Orb -   (avg. 10,000np)  Endless Use
Possible Attack 1 3 HP
Possible Attack 2 -3 HP
Possible Attack 3 Max HP
Possible Attack 4
Possible Attack 5 Yellow Snowball
( )
This great item will nearly always keep you stocked with Yellow Snowballs in a battle, it can also attack with the power of a Grand Lightning Beam and to top it off every now and again it will heal your pet to full health! (aprox 1 in 15 uses) Once it healed me to full health twice during a battle, not even a 2 million NP Jade Scorchstone can do that. It's only downside is occasionally it does drain 3 HP but it also gives 3 HP on occasions and for the free Snowballs, powerfull attacks and full heals, i do not understand why this costs so little. If this sounds a bit much, weaker pets may benifit more from a Snowglobe Staff (see below)
Grand Lightning Beam -   (avg. 30,000np)  Endless Use
Possible Attack 1
Possible Attack 2
Possible Attack 3
A very powerful middle range weapon, two of these together can be deadly, it is also good to use against Attack Forks and it blocks the darkness attack done by them. The downside is that anyone who has fire/light defence can block the attack easily.
Jet Pack -   (avg. 4,000np)  One Use per Battle
Attack
Not many weapons do 5 Air damage, Battle Slices and the Cloud Rod are only other ones in fact. Because of this, hardly anyone comes to a battle equipped to cope with a large air attack meaning this item is likely to still pack a punch on an enemy who likes to defend, combined with the powerful air defend as well its just a shame you can only use this item once per battle but for the price, you cant really complain.
Radioactive Snow -   (avg. 7,000np)  Endless Use
Attack
The snow balances a good attack with good defence and although it will not do as much damage as other weapons, its very good defensive qualities can mean you take less damage as well, it is also quite a cheap item only costing 7,000 NP. Of course there is also Dirty Snow, which behaves the same except attacking with Air & Earth and also defending against Air & Earth.
Snowglobe Staff -   (avg. 3,000np)  May break, but useable again in next battle
Possible Attack 1
Possible Attack 2
Possible Attack 3 Yellow Snowball
( )
A less powerful and cheaper version of the Genie Orb, better for weaker pets as unlike the Genie Orb, this cannot do anything bad to your pet. When you wave it, it will either attack with a very good 6 icons (same as Genie Orb). Give you a powerful yellow snowball (It does this quite a lot) or freeze your opponent. The downside, it can break, but it will only do so for the current battle only and if it freezes your enemy it will also disappear for the current battle. The description says it defends against the Icy Snowball. I can not confirm this as no one has ever used an icy snowball against me while I have this equipped, but if it does, its a bonus as Icy Snowballs are the 3rd most powerful snowball! A nice weapon to have in your arson.

High End Items
Powerful weapons with large price tags mean you have to be rich to afford these but if you can they will serve you well for a long time and give you respect in the dome. You would be best buying these items in the auctions if you can find them.
Hypno Helmet -   (avg. 175,000np)  One Use per Battle
Attack Guarantied Freeze
This item does not cost much considering it is giving you a free move on your opponent meaning you can concentrate on attacking without bothering to defend which can be useful to say the least! Just be careful you and your opponent dont use this at the same time ;)
Tiki Bomb Bag -   (avg. 1,200,000np)  May break, but useable again in next battle
Possible Attack 1 Tiki Bomb
Possible Attack 2
As hidden tower items go this one is not that expensive but still it is a superb weapon giving the user on average one or two Tiki Bombs per battle capable of causing devastating damage because of this it is a preferred weapon among more powerful battlers and is much more efficient than buying individual Tiki Bombs which cost over 100,000 NP each!
Zaptwig -   (avg. 3,800,000np)  Endless Use
Attack
Yes it expensive but it is constant. You can buy items cheaper that can do more damage, but they may break for the battle or not do max damage all the time. Every time you swing the Zaptwig you will do a guarantied 10 icons and you can wave it as much as you want :)
