Reflection on Biographies of Three Hispanic Soldiers

This assignment was also done in preparation for my Spanish 3-4 final exam and it had to do with translating three short biographies of Hispanic individuals in the military.  To complete this assignment, I had to translate the profiles, all words I did not know, and all underlined infinitives into English.  From this assignment, I learned more new Spanish terms and that at two Hispanic soldiers have recently been rewarded with Purple Hearts for their services in the War on Terrorism.

This assignment was enjoyable namely because in having to read three different descriptions on three different people, it gave me a slight taste of what Spanish 5-6 is going to be like next year.  If I could change the way I did this assignment, I would focus on improving the way I translated the paragraphs because there are some sentence fragments and some pronouns that are repeated several times.  This proves my mastery of the “Culturally Empowered Community Member” ESLR because it demonstrates me being culturally diverse with my knowledge of the Spanish language; my understanding of events and locations where events are going on shows I am informed of current activities within the United States military.
