Is your dog prone to ear infections?
A dog's ear canals are more L- Shaped then a humans and the bend in the L is a perfect place for microbes to gather, much like gunk gathers in the elbow of a drain pipe. An overgrowth of microbes, be they bacteria, fungi, parasites or yeast, creates the perfect scenario for ear infections.

Veterinarians know that cretin breeds or types are more susceptible to ear infections. Particularly prone are Retriever or Spaniel breeds or dogs that have ears that hang down preventing air from drying out the ear canals. Also, long - eared dogs tend to dip there heads in bowls while eating or drinking, their ears may remain moist and dirty, creating a place where bacteria and fungus thrive.

Dirty ears can lead to problems such as:
.Chronic ear infections that may become resistant to antibiotics.
.Painful blood clots called Hematomas on the flap of the ear, in which your
vet will need to lance and drain.
 .Hearing loss
.Ear infections may become so bad that a surgery call ear ablation must be
performed to remove the infected parts of the ear rendering the dog deaf.

You therefore do not want to ignore a problem of dirty ears.
