Jelena Dokic left for North America last week determined to atone for her disappointing Wimbledon hangover last year.
Dokic begins her American hardcourt campaign at the Canadian Open in two weeks
with the aim of peaking for next months US Open - tennis' last grand slam of 2000.
The Sydney teenager failed to progress past the first round at Flushing Meadow
last year after raising expectations with a stunning quarter-final result appearance as a qualifier at Wimbledon.
Dokic continued her slide down the rankings this year but returned to form at the Fed Cup in May
before rising again to world number 29 after reaching the semi-finals in
an impressive Wimbledon encore last month. The 17 year old is confident of performing well at this
year's US Open. "I struggled after Wimbledon (last year) but im playing well and i feel good," Dokic said
before flying out of Australia. "I've learnt from games I've won and lost."
Dokic came under much media scrutiny at Wimbledon after parting ways with Australian Davis Cup coach Tony Roche
to once again to work with her controversial father Damir.
But she continues to defend the decision. "I know my dad more than anybody and i think the world of him and i think we have a great relationship." Dokic said. Daily Telegraph Sydney

Jelena Dokic is taking a well deserved break at the moment.
She flew back to Sydney last week and has been seen training at her home courts in Fairfield

Davenport in the Semis of the Wimbledon Championships 2000. Dokic was
outplayed and outclassed in two sets 6-4 6-2. Dokic broke early to lead 2-0
but after that it was all Davenport. Dokic can hold her head up high as this has been her

Jelena Dokic has brushed aside Spanish woman Gala Leon Garcia in straight sets 7-6(7-5) 6-1 to advance to the 3rd round of Wimbledon 2000.
The two players traded breaks of serve in the first set with Jelena getting the advantage in the tie-break. In the
second set she showed her talent to the crowd on Court 5 and won the set with ease. Jelena will now take on

Jelena Dokic has defeated Greta Arn in straight sets 6-1 7-6(9-7). She will
now verse world #47 Gala Leon Garcia from Spain who knocked out 13th seed Amelie Mauresmo.
Gala is 26 years old. She plays right handed and could cause Jelena soem problems.

Jelena Dokic will verse qualifier and world number 168 Greta Arn of Germany in the first round of Wimbledon.
Great Arn is 21 years of age and is currently ranked 168 on the WTA tour with her highest ranking being 167.
