| THE POINTS SYSTEM IN USE TO DECIDE THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS The first 20% of the birds in a race win a position therefore points . The points the first prize winner wins for its owner are the same as the distance of the race in Kilometers. Thus at 100kms (the shortest race) means 100 points to the winner and at 660Kms. (the longest race) means 660 points. All the birds in the result win points for the Fancier, not just his first bird. The rate at which the points decrease with every position down to the last one is worked out by dividing the race distance (points won by the first home) by the number of positions which are 20% of the birds in the race. Example: 100Kms race with 400 pigeons, works out like this:- 20% of 400 = 80 positions divided into 100 points = a rate of 1.25 points per position. Therefore first in the race wins 100 pts and the last, in this case 80th, winning just 1.25 points. Of course this is all computerized. All the races in the program, about 27 count towards the Overall Champion . THE ONE WITH MOST POINTS IS THE CLUB CHAMPION., SHORT DISTANCE CHAMPION OR LONG DISTANCE CHAMPION AS THE CASE MIGHT BE. Incidentally the system that is used to select the "Malta Fancier of the Year" is identical except the number of positions awarded are 5% of the total number of pigeons sent to the race. Both the CLUB and the FED we fly a 10 bird limit. |
