DIPLOMATIC PLATES

Slovenia have license plates which are intend for diplomat,consular and other representative personal. Foreign residents have yellow on black plates whit a yellow border.The district code is followed by Embassy code,a hyphen,a letter indicatin the status, a further hyphen and a three digit serial number.The last two digits of the year of validity are vertically aligned at the right. Motorcycle plates are similar but with the district and Embassy codes above the letter,a hyphen and a singel numeral followed by two vertically aligned digits for the year.The letters have the folowing significance:

  • A- members of the Diplomatic and consular Corps and International Organizations whit diplomatic status,
  • E- foreign business owned vehicles and their employees
  • M- non-diplomatic Embassy personnel
  • P- foreign cultural organizations and press personal

Additionally,diplomatic and consular staff must also display a yellow on black oval whit the letters : [cmd] CMD [cd] CD [cc] CC
The yellow on black plates are no longer in use.After this yellow/black plates came the new style of Diplomatic plates. It was black on orange.Also was in use this small oval plates CMD,CD,CC,the same color black/orange. From the end of the year 2000 Slovenia get new type of Diplomatic plates.The color is the same like the regular issue plates. Green/Black on white whit the green border.The letters CMD,CD,CC and M are in green color,the numbers are in black color. And the new type of lettering.The CMD,CD,CC,is now on the plate.(CMD-60-60). The numbers after the letters mean the country from where the Embassy is.
