EVERYTHING ABOUT SLOVENIA LICENSE PLATES

Hi License plate collectors.I made this page,because I notice that is very big interest for Slovenia license plates.At first Slovenia is now a suveren country.In the year 1991 we are separate from Yugoslavia.And now we are independent country.In the end of the 1991 Slovenia begin to exchange the old Yugoslavia license plate whit the new Slovenia license plates.The old Yugoslavia license plates have the red comunist red star between the numbers and letters.(the picture below).The new Slovenia license plate was madeby Europe standard.They have a green edge and black numbers and letters.The plates have the dimensions of 52cm by 12cm.

[dfj] -Democratic Feederative Yugoslavia(after the WW2), [slika]-Federative People Republic of Yugoslavia(1952-60), [slika]-Socialistic Federative Republic of Yugoslavia(1960-1970), [slika]-The last type of Yugoslavia plate(still in use in Yugoslavia), [slika]-The Slovenia personalized plate(UNI-Union Brewery), [slika]-The Slovenia vanity plate,
the old Yugoslavia(first had �S� prfix to indicate their registery in Slovenia)

Slovenia has eleven districts,similar to the counties in the individual states of the United States.The district in which a vehicle is registered is noted by a two-letter prefix code.A list of the prefixs codes is: CE-Celje,KP-Koper,KR-Kranj,KK-Krsko,LJ-Ljubljana(capitol city),MB-Maribor,MS-Murska Sobota,GO-Gorica,NM-Novo Mesto,PO-Postojna,SG-slovenj Gradec.In addition to the district code,there are 62 towns and cities,each having their own distinctive colorful crests.These also appear on the new plates between the district code and the registration number.If a person moves to another city or district one must register his vehicle in the new jurisdiction.

Slovenia start whit this system numbers and letters from LJ*A1-000 to the LJ*Z9-999,now is in use the system:LJ*A1-00A to the LJ*Z9-99Z,and in the 1994 start whit the reflective plates.
