It would be safe to say that this page does not reflect any official definition of a "No Groom" show but it will give a few thoughts.  And should it be noted that the views and opionion herein are not necessarily reflective of Nebraska Llama Associaion, its board of directors, its members, ALSA, anyone who raises llamas, or thinks they raise llamas.  "Thinks they raise llamas" statement comes from the fact that I just saw the movie "Napoleon Dynomyte".  His grandmother has a pet llama named Tina (shorn like an alpaca) and feeds it casserole.  With that in mind, we must understand that there are many good, right and positive views on a show like this, and there are a few views that are just plain wrong.

Moving onward... we from the Nebraska Llama Association in an effort to promote the llama industry in Nebraska,  around Nebraska  and as a whole in this country, thought we should host a show.  We knew that the administrative jobs would take some work because putting on a show is no easy task.  But this is where the work had to end.  Sometimes raising llamas can loose its appeal because of all the work that goes into taking them to a show.  We wanted a show that people wouldn't dread going to - a show that would just be fun to attend.  A reason to have and show llamas just for the simple joy of it.

Although, this is a show that is official, will gain you official points towards whatever you want points for, has official judges, official catatogories, very high quality competiton and the like.  So for you out there who are the die-hard llama showers, this show is for you too.

So you might say, "These llamas aren't groomed, what will this do to public relations and the image of llamas?"
Or are we giving a false bill of sale to the public that a groomed llama is what they always look like?  Of course those of you who have llamas that "stay clean" after they're groomed  because somehow they sence how nice they look, "I hate you!"

We can trust our judges that they know and have seen llamas that are ungroomed.  So you are not to worry if you are in the ring with your prized llama with a salad bowl of hay behind the neck and the llama beside you looks like it stepped out of a magazine ad.  And remember to look at the bright side, if the other llama does better, just remember that you had time to have an extra beer the night before and got two more hours of sleep in the morning before you stepped into the arena.  Life should be good with llamas.
