Nephtys, named after the Egyptian goddess of the dead, was founded in 2000 by Rolando Barros (currently playing drums also in GROG, SACRED SIN and NEOPLASMAH), Jo�o Abra�os and Nuno Gerv�sio (both ex MYSTICAL FATE guitar players). Later they completed the line-up with Rui (keyboards), Carlos Monteiro (vocals) and Raul Vicente (bass). They subsequently played a gig in 2001, but a few months later the three founding members were once again on their own. This halted the live performances, but not the recording sessions. They got Ivo Concei��o to play keyboards and bass, and for the vocals Bruno Fernandes from THE FIRSTBORN. Thus they recorded their debut demo CD, entitled ��Yet the Choirs of Vendetta�, which was released in December 2003. Meanwhile, Bruno left the band due to professional and personal reasons, and was replaced by Nuno Santos in the main voice. Because the sampled parts and keys are so important in Nephtys, Ivo Concei��o left his bass to be fully concentrated on that part for studio recordings. For his place the band chose Jos� Marreiros (NEOPLASMAH) and now NEPHTYS have a perfect line-up for the upcoming promotion gigs. A tour was scheduled by Icon Agency (DMP) that included a mini-tour with ROTTING CHRIST through Portugal and Spain.
