Gwydion exists since 1995 and its first incarnation lasted until 1998, when a split-up occured due to musical differences between the band members. During this period, Gwydion recorded one MCD entitled 'Debt to Morrighan' and played some live shows for promotional purposes. In the end of 1999, four of the original elements (vocalist Ruben, guitarist Vitor, drummer Miguel and keyboardist Daniel) formed a new band called Stormchild. Two new elements joined them completing the line-up: guitarist Caveirinha (ex-Impurity, ex-Invoke) and bass player Joo BM (ex-Against Divine). Stormchild then recorded a new CD called 'First Channeling', in July 2000, at Exilium Lynx Studios, which was followed by whole new series of live performances. In October 2000 Miguel left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by drummer Br*uno. Sometime afterwards and after a lengthy reflexion by all the band members, they've decided to change the band name back to its original moniker, as that had always been the primeval desire of the founding members of Gwydion. Of all the live gigs, the chief ones were held at Extremo Open Air Festival 2000 and 2001, with bands like Susperia, Sirius and Sacred Sin, as well as many others around Lisbon and other corners of Portugal. In October 2001 the band recorded their latest CD called 'Augmentation', at xito Estudio, and are now promoting the CD and preparing a new set of live shows. Suddenly around late autumn 2001 Joo BM left the band (personal reasons painted the picture once again) and was quickly replaced by Baron Webb, who, half a year later, has also left the band for personal reasons.
