Trip Pics
My best friend lives in Vancouver. For three years in a row I have visited her in Vancouver during my vacation. This year I decided to go somewhere new.
I recruited my brother's girlfriend to come with me. Ireland would be our destination.
We visited traveled from July 22 to August 2. We were lucky with the weather; we only had three days of rain.
We flew into Shannon, drove north to Galway, norther to Westport, east to Dublin. After spending two nights in Dublin we drove south to Wexford, west to Cork and then on to the far west: Dingle Pennisula.
We got on the plane in Toronto at around midnight on the 22nd and landed in Shannon around noon on the 23rd. It was a long flight. Unfortunately we had alot of turbulence on the flight. Recently I watched 'Castaway', so I was having nightmares of crashing in the Atlantic Ocean. We made it safe and sound.

We took the first day pretty slow. We picked up the car. I got accustomed to driving a stick shift on the left and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The first area we drove around was the Central West. It is called the Burren. Within the Burren are the Cliffs of Mohr, which are the cliffs that are shown in many pictures of Ireland.

Unfortunately due to jet-lag and insanely skinny roads we were unable to drive all the way to the Cliffs.
In the second picture you can see them in the distance.

This picture is out of order but I wanted to put it here to show the conditions that we had to drive in. This road was NOT unusual. The speed limit on this road was 50 mph (or about 70 kmh), which was followed about as closely as when one drives on the 401. (in otherwords irishmen love to speed)

And oh look not only is the road only 1.5 cars wide, there is also a cattle crossing. Beautiful.
