Clarity

Staring out the window at the rain coming down.
The sky reflects my sadness - it's tears a lonely sound.
I feel a chill of clarity, my thoughts - they turn to you.
On pins and needles prickling, my hopes - they fall right through.

Is three weeks enough reason? I thought lonliess was done.
Your smile was extravagent, it warmed me like the sun.
New reason to look forward - to each day and what it brings.
You gave me hope and happiness, I would give you anything.

Like many things that seem so right, until the truth is shown
She held him back with just one hand, he surely should have known
This latest time of happiness, shortlived and yet so strong.
Obscured his better judgement, of what was known along.

This fleeting ray of sunshine, so narrow and so bright.
Burned out these eyes and burned them blind, like a fire in the night.
These red bricks wash with purity - nothing you posess.
And another waning winter's, last heartbeat and last breath.

You said you would not fly away. I thought that you would try.
Why did you have to? Why did you lie?
So you want to be an actress, well - all that I can say is...
You're the best I've met so far, just think of the parts you'll play.
