O Great Comforter
O Great Comforter of my soul,
hold me in your steadfast love.
Life’s struggles bring me but a weary heart,
so turn my life to focus on you above.
O Great Comforter of my soul,
Hear my cry in my weakest hour.
Enfold me in your loving arms,
unfolding my strength as an opening flower.
O Great Comforter of my soul,
in moments too deep for a single word,
Send your Spirit to intercede.
Will my heart to follow the Lord.
O Great Comforter of my soul,
when loneliness surrounds my way,
walk with me along life’s path,
and by my side promise you will always stay.
My life has moments when I feel unloved,
when my weakness is great despair.
Moments too deep for words,
tear my heart and I need your loving care.
Loneliness envelopes my heart,
as the darkness a starless night.
In those moments, O Great Comforter,
surround me with Your Light.
O Great Comforter of my soul,
Hold me ever near your loving heart.
Shield me throughout all life’s way,
and through eternity, ne’er depart.
