Hafa Dai, and welcome to
my page documenting my experiences in Saipan. I have been writing
a newsletter every once in a while, I will keep those archived here along
with other journal type entries. If you are interested in what I
am doing here on Saipan this is probably the best way for you to get an
idea. I also have pictures that I would like to share with you.
So, go ahead and explore my letters and my photo album. I hope you
enjoy them. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to
hear from you. You can email me at [email protected].
Before you get to the letters and the pictures though,
allow me a brief introduction. In September of 1997, I was starting
to look for a teaching job, knowing that graduation was just around the
corner. Our placement office at Dordt College had received information
form Saipan Community School. I was interested in finding an overseas
teaching assignment, so I got on this one right away. I had an interview
on February 14, and officially had the job a few weeks later.
Saipan is the capital island of the Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). We're about 1500 miles south-southeast
of Tokyo, Japan. If you want to learn more about Saipan and
the CNMI, I would suggest the following web sites. www.saipan.com
or www.gtepacifica.net.
Both are local ISPs and have interesting information on them. Also,
my roomate Jeff Funk
has a webpage, we have some of the same pictures, but also some different
ones.
So, as I mentioned above, I hope you enjoy my writings
and pictures.
