Early Club Dues Notice
What: Student Send-off Picnic.
Who: All alums, "subway alums", friends of the University and their families hosting the incoming freshmen and returning students of ND-SMC.
When: Sunday, August 9th beginning at 2:00 PM.
Where: Poolside at the home of Patty and Paul Heintz.
What: Soda, beer and hors d'oeuvres with an afternoon barbeque catered by Pat McCann's Carolina Bar-B-Que of Middleville.
Cost: Adults and children 12 & older - $12.50, Children 5-11 - $6.00, ND-SMC students and children under 5 - free.
What to Bring: Each family is asked to bring: (1) a choice of either an hors d'oeuvre or dessert (2) swimwear and "picnic sports equipment" (frisbees, etc.) (3) lawn chairs.
Reservations: In order to provide as accurate count as possible to Carolina Bar-B-Que, reservations (with payment on the day of the event) need to be made on or before 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4th. Accordingly, please reserve upon receipt of this communication (as to the number attending and whether an hors d'oeuvre or dessert is being brought) by leaving a message on the Club's new voice mail (24 hour telephone) at 794-9499.
Thi is the time to grab your appointment book or daytimer (if you don't you will probably end up having conflicts). Mark every Wednesday at noon beginning September 2nd (and continuing thru November 25th) for our weekly lub luncheon to be held once again at Tiny's Grill as we view the Coach's press conference video. Bring a friend!
Thanks to President Dan Shaughnessy for using his "classmate connection" (with the A.D.) to lobby and obtain the maximum allotment of tickets to the Stanford game fr our Club excursion beginning on October 1st. Also our thanks to Club members such as Ken Murphy, John Burdick, Greg Karl, Dr. Brian Boyle, and Cooperstown attorney Robert Schlather for the use of a portion of their alumni ticket application resulting in the benefit that our trip is being extended to others. If you are on the "wait list" for this excursion, you may be contacted regarding space availability. If you wish to be added to this list, leave a message at 794-9499.
As mentioned above, there is a new telephone number (794-9499) for Club use featuring 24 hour voice mail. It can be used for making reservations for Club events, adding names and addresses of new members, questions, etc. In addition, you can provide your fax number since the Club has instituted a multi-party quick notification fax procedure for Club events.
Though our Club fiscal year runs from September 1st to August 31st, the enclosed 1998-99 dues notice is being presented about a month early. As you can appreciate, we have a small treasury which faces at times more disbursements than inflows. Examples of how your dues are being applied include such items as the subsides for the expenses relating to the upcoming Student Send-off Picnic along with ou periodic newsletters. With this in mind, I hope you will consider forwarding your check a month early. The check for $20 should be made payable to the "ND Club of the Mohawk Valley" and sent to our treasurer, Kurt Hameline c/o District Attorney's Office, Oneida County Office Bldg., Elizabeth Street, Utica, NY 13501.
