| *3 Months Later* Sarah was laying on the couch waiting on Nick to get back home from the studio. She was now seven months along in her pregnancy. She hadn't talked to her parents or Jennifer since the big fight. The only time she saw Jennifer was when Howie was over with her. She was wondering why Jennifer hadn't talked to her in such a long time. She figured she was mad at her because of what happened with their father. Jennifer had always been a daddy's girl. She could never understand that. Sarah sat up when she heard the door open and close. She saw Nick walk into the room. "Hey baby. How did everything go?" Sarah asked. "Good." Nick said kissing her. "Taking it easy?" "That's all I can do with bed rest, Nick." Sarah said not fond of doing nothing. "I'm lucky the diner is so understanding." "Well come with me." Nick said helping her up. "I have a surprise for you." "Oh really? What is it?" Sarah asked. "What are you up to, Nick?" "Nothing. Just come upstairs." he said. Sarah carefully followed him upstairs. It was difficult to go up and down the stairs. They walked towards their bedroom. Nick made her close her eyes and guided her inside. Sarah smelled strawberries and flowers all over. "Okay. Open them." he said as he knelt in front of her. Sara was amazed at the whole room covered in candles and rose petals. Her eyes landed on Nick who was on his knee with a velvet box. "Oh my." she gasped. "We've been through a lot these past months, but we made it through. You put up with me and I with you." he said. She laughed. "But our love has conquered it all. Sarah Jacobs, will you marry me?" He opened the box and inside was a 2 karat diamond ring. She gasped at the size. 'I feel so lucky.' she thought. "Yes. I will." she said. He stood up and kissed her. He then placed the ring on her finger. "Thank you so much." Nick said. "Your welcome." she said smiling. She couldn't believe it. It was coming true. The only thing that was bothering her was that she wanted her father to walk her down the isle. Sarah had Kevin take her to her parents house. She saw them sitting on the porch swing. She took a deep breath and got out. "Are you gonna be okay?" he asked. "Yeah. Just wait here." she said. Mitch and Linda saw her. Mitch immediately went into the house. Sarah walked over to her mother. "I guess dad is still mad at me?" she asked. "Yeah." Linda said. "I just wish we could change his mind." "Well tell him something for me." Sarah said. "Just tell him that I love him and I miss him." "I will baby girl." Linda said hugging her daughter. "I will." Sarah walked back over to the car and got in. She saw her father out of his bedroom window. She put her hand to the glass. Her father did as well. They almost had an understanding. They just had to say it. Nick decided to take Sarah out to dinner and celebrate. He notified Kevin to let 'em all know to meet them at the Olive Garden. It was Sarah's favorite place to go. Sarah got in the best outfit which was a dark green dress that was her favorite and Nick's too. She carefully walked downstairs and she saw Nick's eyes light up. "You look beautiful baby." Nick said. "Thank you." Sarah said kissing him. "I can't wait to tell everyone the good news." "Well, they'll all be waiting at the restaurant." Nick said. "Then we can tell them." Sarah smiled. "I'm so glad I have you." "Me too." Nick said as he led her out to the car. They arrived at the restaurant. They met the fella's and their girlfriends/wives outside since they hadn't gone inside yet. "Shall we?" Nick said opening the door for Sarah. Sarah smiled at him. They followed her inside. A man met them at the front of the restaurant. "How many sir?" the guy asked. "Eleven." Nick said. "Right this way sir." the guy said. They seated them at the three tables in the back. Everyone looked over their menus while Kristin looked at her. "Well? What's the news? This is a celebration dinner." Kristin said still looking over her menu. "Maybe we should wait till after dinner." Sarah said. "No." Leighanne said. "Come on." "That's why we're all here." Jennifer said. Sarah looked across the table at her sister. It had been months since she had seen her. She wondered why she was even there. Jennifer glared at her. "Excuse me." Sarah said and got up leaving the table for the bathroom. Jennifer went after her. "Sarah! Hold up!" Sarah stopped. "What?" "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you." Jennifer said. "It's just that everything that happened with dad was uncalled for." "He's the one that called me a slut, Jen!" Sarah said getting loud. Jennifer pulled her into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. "Keep your voice down." Jennifer said making sure no one was in there. "I will not!" Sarah said angrily. "You are the one that apparently chose dad's side when he sat there and refused his grandchild. Yet he approved your relationship with Howie." "I can't help it what dad does." Jennifer said. "I just think you ought to apologize." "When hell freezes over!" Sarah said angrily. "Why don't you just leave! I didn't invite you!" "Fine!" Jennifer said walking out of the bathroom angrily and back to the table. "I am leaving Howie. I'll meet you at home." Sarah came back to the table after she saw Jennifer leave. "Nick I think this isn't the time to tell anyone. I just want to go home." "Are you sure?" Nick asked. "Yeah." she said. "It's okay. We'll stick around." Kevin said. "You two go home." "Thanks Kevin." Sarah said feeling tired. Nick and Sarah walked out of the restaurant. They got into the car and headed home. The whole car ride home was in silence. Nick was wondering what happened. When they got home, they headed up to bed. Sarah changed for bed and laid down. "What happened?" Nick asked from the bathroom. "Nothing." Sarah said adjusting her position in bed. "Oh give me a break, Sarah. Jennifer came out of there steaming. You could see it." Nick said crawling in next to her. "She told me that I am the one that should apologize to my dad when he called me names and denied his own grandchild. The nerve of her." Sarah said. "This is not good for the baby." Nick said. "I know." Sarah said. "I just want to sleep." Nick held her close. "Just sleep, baby." Nick laid there staring at the ceiling. He knew he would have to take care of this himself. Sarah didn't need anymore of this drama in her life. He knew she had, had enough of it. |
