More Jolly Rack Japes

A little leakage can be seen on the top of the pinion but not enough to confirm my suspicions, further inspection soon revealed a roughness to the pinion shaft where it passes through the seal.

Circlip out and pinion housing bolts out and the housing slips off.

Here are the seals I have decided not to annoy for the moment.

The information I have (but not for this rack) suggests that special tools will be needed to fit these babies. Not this time round I think.

I also applied a little grease under the white nylon washer - just to help keep the muck out.

In goes the new seal, pressed in with a vice and a little Hylomar Blue. The old seal is used as a drift .

There is a little play on this end joint.

I shall search for a new one this weekend.

Lets put it all back together.

Take me HOME
