Letter to the Editor - Read the newspaper and identify a topic reported in the local paper. Write a 5 paragraph letter to the editor addressing your position and the reasons for that position. The teacher must approve the letter before it is sent. Attach a copy of the research you addressed, the letter and newspaper, if published, to your Extra Credit Application. 1 point - total of 2 points if published
Interview a member of the school staff (not a teacher). Develop a list of questions (minimum of 20) about their responsibilities. Secure teacher approval and signature. Schedule an appointment with the individual. Conduct the interview. Write and type a newspaper article explaining the role of this individual in the community. You are this person's public relations representative. How can you make a difference in how this person or position is viewed? Attach questions, teacher signature, newspaper format article, and interviewee's signature to the Extra Credit Application. 2 points for completion
