Each quarter, the ACT class plans and oversees a community service project.  Participation is a REQUIRED element of successful completion of the class.  The project is 15% of the quarter grade.
The Fall, 2003 ACT class collected 97 toys for the "brave basket" at Blume Cancer Clinic.  Patients are offered a gift to help provide support when they are being stuck by a needle.  A special "Thank You" to Mrs. Kaus for helping us make a difference!
During the 2nd Quarter of the Fall of 2003, the ACT class collected 95 winter coats that were donated to the Baptist Sharing House and 74 sweaters and sweatshirts that were donated to Jimmy Murphy for distribution at his Christmas dinner. Thank you Buddy and Jean Brooks for transporting the coats!!!
The Spring, 2004 class selected the residents of Eden Gardens as their first project.  The students made cards and visited with clients.  A special thanks to Mrs. Judy Williams who served as the liaison.
The Spring class topped off their semester by collecting and wrapping boxes for a summer youth camp sponsored by Hospice and collected 763 cans of food to assist the Cooperative Christian Ministries' Food Pantry for the displaced Pillowtex workers.
