Beaten for drinking water
A Christian mason received critical injuries, including
dislocation of his shoulder after he was seen drinking water from
a public facility on June 6, 2006 at Lahore. The Pakistan Christian
Post reported.
Nasir Ashraf, laborer at the construction of
a school was returning from the site. On his way while he was
drinking a glass of water from the public tank a Muslim man questioned
him “why drink water from the public facility
by using the same glass placed near the water tank since a Christian?”
The crowd began to beat Nasir, eventually pushing
him off a ledge. The fall dislocated his shoulder, broke his collarbone
and rendered him unconscious. Assist

Labourers – Dera Ismail Khan
On July 22, 2006 about 70 Christian labourers
from different villages of Kot Addu shifted to work at Chashma
Sugar Mill No.2 Dera Ismail Khan. They faced discrimination on
the basis of their religion on the very second day of their jobs.
Utensils (plates, glasses, spoons etc), used by them were separated
in the factory canteen and local restaurants. They were not provided
food on time. They were refused to be entertained in the crockery
used by Muslim customers. The Mill administration was informed
but they were unable to repair the situation. All the Christian
laborers were forced to leave their jobs and start searching for

Labourers – Taunsa Head works
The Muslim Laborers went on strike and chanted against
the administration of Taunsa Head works for serving the meals
to Muslim and Christian laborers together. The situation was brought
to calm only after the Police interference and discussing with
the administration after three hours.

Rubina Roshan - Quetta
Rubina Roshan, a Christian lady teacher in Education Department
at Zhob was married to a government school teacher from Quetta.
She applied for transfer to Quetta to stay with her husband at
the same station.The Education Department Officer (EDO) - Quetta
issued No Objection Certificate for her transfer for adjustment
to the Director of Education of Schools - Balochistan. There was
no progress on her application by the officials stating her file
was lost.
She applied again and the Director of Schools
issued her transfer order on July 2006. The Deputy District Officer
- Zhob also relieved her on August 5, 2006 on the Director’s
order.
However, she was refused to join at Quetta, by
the officer stating the vacant vacancy had already been filled.
She wrote a letter to EDO - Quetta requesting him to transfer
her to another school. After two months the EDO - Quetta replied
to concerned branch that Rubina should be sent to DCO Quetta for
appointment. Roshan believed that this treatment melted out to
her was religious discrimination. NCJP
