Nasir Masih and Arif Masih dismissed from job
Arif Masih and Nasir Masih employees of Wapda Town - Gujranwala were dismissed from their jobs by Ghazanfer Iqbal Ojla the General Secretary, because they were absent from their duty on December 26, 2003, otherwise a Christmas holiday announced by the government.

The case was pending at Labour Court Gujranwala. On December 18, 2006 Court ordered their resettlement in the job and the payment of their pending salaries.                             NCJP Report

Inspection of sanitary workers - Quetta
On November 27, 2006 Abdul Qadir Agha, Naib Nazim of Zarghoon Town, Quetta illegally monitored the sanitary workers. They were asked to place their hands on the Holy Bible to make a solemn statement if they have not given bribe to the supervisor or sanitary Inspector of the department. Identity Cards of some of them were also confiscated. The eyewitnesses told that workers who belonged to Muslim community were called for inspection but not asked to swear by Holy Quran to make a solemn statement.                                                                NCJP report

Violence and economic exploitation
According to daily Khabrain, the Christians of Bhai Pheru near Lahore protested that local Feudal and Contractors had forced many Christians into working for them without wages. When the Christians resisted, they were cruelly beaten. One Christian had died as a result of the beating he received after he refused to work without wages.              Friday Times, Feb. 24, – March 3, 2006

Manu Bheel
Mr. Abdul Rehman Mari, an influential landlord of District Sanghar, Sindh, allegedly abducted the nine family members of Mr. Manu Bheel, on May 2, 1998 from a village in District Mirpurkhas because they had refused to work as bonded labour. The family belonged to a scheduled caste Hindu called Bheel. The landlord was arrested after eight years, on July 22, 2006 when the case was taken up by the International human rights organizations and finally Suo moto action by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. However the victims were not recovered till this report.Mr. Bheel staged hunger strike from 19 January 2003 to 25 July 2006 everyday (over 1,000 days) in front of Press Club at Hyderabad. He was reportedly tortured and pressurized several times by police and offered Rs. 400,000 by the landlord to withdraw the case pending before the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Abduction of a Hindu boy
On October 8, 2006 Hareesh Kumar (13) of Jaffaradad was abducted by unknown assailants. A case was registered, but no one was arrested till this report.

Robbery and Abduction
Muhammad Ashraf with his accomplices trespassed into Punu Ram’s house in Chak # 84 D – B, Yazman at district Bahawalpur loaded with arms, took away valuables and Rs. 40,000 cash with them, they also abducted his sister Kausar and daughter Rajji (15) on October 17, 2006 Muhammad Ashraf reportedly abducted Shamim another sister of Punu in past. He raped her and forced to convert to Islam. An application was filed with District Police Officer but was not considered. The Session Court issued orders for lodging an FIR. Culprits were neither arrested, nor were the victims recovered till this report.                                                                                         NCJP report

Hindu women: difficulties at workplace
The Hindu Community demanded through press that the government should alleviate the problems faced by their women folk in matters related to appointments and transfers in NWFP. Especially, the women should be posted into their native areas.

There is no logic in printing postal tickets on the religious festivals of Sikh community because Pakistani nation had nothing to do with them.
