About the NCFPCG

Mission Statement:
The objectives of the North Central Florida Polymer Clay Guild are to:

  • Educate ourselves on the use of polymer clay, by sharing information, giving demonstrations, conducting workshops, and developing opportunities that come our way.

  • Foster public knowledge of polymer clay giving programs, entering competitions, shows, exhibits and sales of our work.

  • Participate in public-service projects.

  • Create a group environment that encourages and nurtures the individual artist.

Creating Bottles of Hope is a community service project at our local guild, the North Central Florida Polymer Clay Guild. We take bottles which contained non-toxic medications donated to us by the local Oncology Center; we prepare these by washing to remove residues of medicine and labels. Next step is to cover these bottles with polymer clay, either solid color or with special designs; bake, polish and enclose them in a small plastic bag. Into the bag will also go a card with good wishes and prayers for hope. These then will be called Bottles of Hope which we take back to the Oncology Center or another cancer treatment center to be distributed to cancer patients. These are never sold but given away. Some members carry a few in our cars so as to be ready to give to someone whom we encounter during our days going about our business.

We also give these for the fund raising event called Relay for Life, each spring sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Some Bottles of Hope are also taken to the Cancer Survivorship Celebration each first Sunday in June. This is sponsored by the Oncology Nurses Association.

We have also worked with local high school students and elementary students whose school require community service hours. Local churches and hospitals also have joined us in this effort from time to time.

As we make these bottles, we pray for those who will be encouraged by having one of these. It is a worthwhile effort for our community.
