| What is Anime? Anime is a shortened term for Japanese Animation. Things on American television that are Anime include: Robotech, SailorMoon, DragonBallZ, Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, and so forth (mostly stuff on Toonami). Why do people talk about good and bad anime? Many people who are really into anime think that most shows that are dubbed (English Language) are- (um, how to say this nicely?) really crappy because a lot of the plot and words are changed to accomodate the American lifestyle. A lot of anime contains nudity and vulgar language so when it is dubbed into english language, the nudity is taken out and the vulgar language isn't, well- vulgar... Most people like to stick with the Japanese, English subtitled (subbed) versions because the creator's original plans stick throughout the series. What are people talking about when they say 'Manga'? Manga is just the Japanese term for comic book (I think Manga stands for "still movie" but I'm not sure...) Most anime has started out from popular (or even not so popular) Manga series. Why did you start an Anime Club? Well, my friend, Laura, and I were joking around in our dorm one day and I mentioned starting a club as a joke, but we both got interested in the idea and voila! A club was born! Do you get funding from school? Not yet. North Central has some policy where you have to have a whole bunch of people interested in starting a club and a whole set of rules. We figured it would be easier to start the club off from the supplies that we and the other members have and then start working on organizing the whole club to please the college administrative. Hopefully, we'll have funding started for next year. When are the meetings? Right now, we plan on having meetings every Saturday starting at 7:00pm until midnight-ish. Where are the meetings? TownHomes TV room (in the basement). What do you do? Basically, we just get together and lounge around watching anime!!! On good days we even have munchies :) to munch on while watching the anime!! We also use the time to sit and talk about anime (the good, the bad, the horrible....) Do you do anything besides anime? WHAT?!?! This is an ANIME club!!!! ANIME is what this club is all about!!!! With that final note, I think I shall retire until more questions shall arise! |
