Quiltfest 2006

The North Country Quilters are sponsoring Quiltfest 2006 on Sept. 23, from 10 am- 4 pm at the Municipal Building, 222 Main St., Newport. There will be a display of treasured antique, contest, and challenge quilts as well as quilts made by children and other special exhibits. Interactive demonstrations will be presented throughout the day. Several door prizes will be awarded. Kids and adults alike are sure to enjoy the Quilt Scavenger Hunt. A nice country quilt show during Vermont's glorious fall foliage season!

The drawing for North Country Neighbors, the raffle quilt designed by Jeanne Prue of Newport and quilted by Sherry Greenwood, will be held in the afternoon. This queen size quilt was pieced by the North Country Quilters and machine quilted.

Everyone is invited to enter quilts in Quiltfest. Quilts must be pre-registered. A quilt may be entered for display or as a contest quilt to be judged. Entries for display quilts are limited to 2 quilts. For contest quilts, only 1 quilt per category may be entered. Entry deadline is September 19, 2006. Quilts may be entered in the following categories: bed, hand quilted, miniature, wall hanging, crib or sofa size, kit or tied, first quilt, youth, or quilted clothing. There is an entry fee per quilt. Ribbons will be awarded to as many as 25 winners!
