That question, finally, was asked to him. When Brian said that, it felt like someone just punched him in the stomach. He couldn't breath for a second. He, then, knew he had to answer his question.
"No. I just went by her apartment today because I noticed that you were upset when she left," Nick said with his voice shaking.
"Are you lying to me, Nick," Brian asked him.
"No! I told you I wasn't," Nick yelled, then ran off the beach and sped away with the tires skidding across the pavement.
When Nick looked at his speedometer, he noticed he was going about 90 miles per hour. He quickly slowed down the car and parked on the side of the road. He turned off the car and laid his head down on the steering wheel. He pulled his head up and put his hands through his hair.

Why did I act like that? It must have been so obvious that I like her. But he asked if i was seeing her and I wasn't. I just like her a lot. I didn't think this was going to be a big deal. The first time I kissed her, I didn't really feel anything, but then the second time, I felt something strange. How did I get myself into this situation? How could I actually think that I could be with her? Brian loves her. If she should be with anyone, it should be with him.

Nick had all those thoughts going through his head. He started the car back up, and he drove back to his house to get rest and think about everything that was going through his head.

"Brian, what happened," Aimee asked, walking over to him.
"I asked him if he was seeing you behind my back. He got mad and sped off. But, is he really seeing you," Brian asked, looking into her eyes.
"No, he's not. He kissed me twice. The first time was in his house. I went over to apologize. It was innocent. Nothing else happened. Then, when he came to my apartment again today, he kissed me again," Aimee explained to him.
"What? Did you want him to kiss you," Brian asked with a confused tone.
     "I don't know. I didn't stop him," Aimee said.
"Oh," Brian said sadly, then put his head down.
Aimee put her hand gently on Brian's cheek, and he looked up at her with tears in his eyes.
"This is really hard for me, Aimee. I never thought I would feel so strongly about someone. I love you so much, and it kills me to know that I can't have you anymore," Brian said, then looked away.
"When did I say you could never have me anymore," Aimee asked him.
Brian looked up at her with a surprised look. Her green eyes seem to burn into his eyes. He leaned in and kissed her. She kissed him back. When they pulled away from each other, she smiled at him.
"So what does this mean," Brian asked her.
"I don't know. I have to think about things. You need to talk to Leigh Anne," Aimee told him.
"I will talk to her. Does this mean we are going to work out our relationship," Brian asked.
"I said that I didn't know. I have to talk to someone first. I will talk to you in a couple of days," Aimee said.
"A couple of days," Brian asked with a pout.
"Yeah, I need a couple of days to myself. Well, I will see you, Brian," Aimee said, then went to her car and drove away.
Brian watched her black BMW pull out of the parking lot and drive away. When he sat in his car and looked into the rear view mirror, he noticed the huge smile across his face. He put his car in drive, and he went back to his apartment to have a long talk with Leigh Anne.

3 Days Later

"So why did you want me to come over," Nick asked, sitting down on the couch.
"Well, I noticed that you were upset that day on the beach. I was just wondering why you were," Aimee asked, sitting next to him.
"I thought Brian would have told you. He has you back now. It doesn't matter how I feel," Nick said, then looked away from her.
"He doesn't have me back, yet. I'm not sure what I am going to do. Why are you so upset," Aimee asked.
"Well, the way he has been talking, I thought he was back with you. He dumped Leigh the other day, so he can be with you. You should have seen her. She was so heartbroken. I know how she feels. When people play around with your feelings. It hurts, when you find out they don't care about you in the same way... but that's life. What else can you do," Nick explained to her with sadness in his voice.
"What are you talking about? Playing around with your feelings," Aimee asked, kneeling in front of him.
"Oh, come on, Aimee! You can't say that you didn't feel anything between us that night, and when I was at your apartment the other day. When you kissed me back, I thought it meant something. I guess it didn't. First, you were kissing me, then Brian tells me that you two kissed and are getting back together," Nick said angrily, then stood up.
"I'm sorry if I did that. I'm still confused about everything. I don't know how I feel about Brian. I don't know why I kissed him back that day. I felt like I had to. I hate to see Brian so depressed. I'm used to seeing him happy, with a smile on his face. These past couple of days, I didn't see that. The only time I did see that was when I kissed him, and I said that I would think about getting back together," Aimee said.
"If you aren't sure or if you were never sure, why did you tell him that?! You don't know how much pain you will cause him, if you say you can't be together. It won't affect just him... it will affect all of us," Nick said, then stormed out the door, not even closing it behind him.
Aimee shut the door behind him and fell to the floor. She started to sob into her chest. She pulled her knees up to her chin and cried until she could not cry anymore.
