She kissed Nick back, for some reason. She didn't want to let go of him. Then, she quickly pulled away from him and looked away.
"Did I do something wrong," Nick asked with concern.
"No, it's just that this isn't right. You're Brian's best friend. I can't do this to him," Aimee said.
"But you are not with Brian anymore. Why should it be such a problem," Nick asked.
"I don't know why it is a problem. Brian told me that he still loved me, and he wanted to be with me. Then, you come, and I feel strange. I can't handle this," Aimee said with a frustrated voice.
"It's weird for me, too. I never thought I would like you. When I first saw you, I thought you were cute, but then that little event at my house happened. I acted like a jerk to you. Brian told me that as soon as you got to know her, you would fall in love with her. I didn't believe him then, but now I am starting to," Nick said, looking into her eyes.
"Nick, this is what is frustrating me! You and Brian both say that you love me, but I don't know if either of you are telling the truth. Brian told me that, when we were together. Then, he cheated on me, and I can't believe anybody anymore. I hate it," Aimee explained to Nick.
"Oh. So that's what this is all about. Brian cheating on you makes you not believe that any guy loves you," Nick asked her.
"Yes. I hate it because I know that I can trust guys, but it just feels like I can't. I don't allow myself to get close to any guy whatsoever," Aimee said, sitting down on the couch.
"But Brian didn't cheat on you. He told me the whole story. If you let him explain, you would understand," Nick said.
"Are you trying to get me and Brian back together or something," Aimee asked.
"I guess I am. It hurts me to see Brian so depressed. I want to be with you, but I would rather see my friend happy than me getting what I want," Nick explained.
"So you think I should really listen to what he has to say," Aimee asked.
"Yeah, you should," Nick told her.
"Okay then. Thanks for being such a great friend," Aimee said, then kissed him on the cheek.
"Yeah, a great friend," Nick said to himself, then left the apartment.
Aimee watched him leave, and she shut the door behind him. She sighed, looked around the apartment, and noticed that Christa left. She saw the note she left on the table, then went to her room. She laid on her bed and knew that Nick was right. She never let Brian explain what happened. She didn't want to face the truth. She slowly picked up the phone and started to dial Brian's number. The phone rang two times, then she heard Brian's voice over the phone.
"Hi, Brian. It's Aimee," she told him.
     "Hi, Aimee," Brian said sadly.
"Um, I was wondering if you could meet me back at the beach again. If you don't want to, it's okay. I just need to talk to you," Aimee told him.
"No, I want to talk to YOU! I will be there in a couple of minutes," he said, then hung up the phone.
Aimee, also, put the phone down, grabbed her keys, and headed to the beach to see Brian.
Brian stepped out of the silver BMW and locked the doors behind him. He looked around and didn't see Aimee anywhere. He looked around the corner and still didn't see her. He heard a car drive into the parking lot and saw Aimee step out. She walked towards him, and he smiled.
"Hi, Brian. Sorry I was late," she said to him.
"It's okay. I would wait forever," Brian said with a smile.
"Well, I actually want to talk about the day we broke up. I know that I never let you explain what happened. Now I am giving you the chance," Aimee said.
"Really? What changed your mind," Brian asked.
"I talked to Nick and he told me to listen to what you had to say," Aimee said, sitting on the bench.
"He did? He's a great friend," Brian said, then also sat down next to her on the bench.
"So are you going to tell me," Aimee asked, looking into Brian's eyes.
"Yeah. Well, here it goes..." Brian said with a sigh.

Nick slowly walked to his favorite place, the beach. He has so many things going through his head. He wondered why he told Aimee that she should listen to Brian. If she was to forgive him, maybe they would be back together, and Nick would have no chance with her. But then he felt selfish for thinking that. Brian loved her, and Nick wasn't sure how he felt about her. He sighed, walked onto the beach, and looked at the waves. He looked down at his feet, then over to his side. He thought he saw Aimee and Brian. He rubbed his eyes and looked again. It was them. Aimee was crying and hugging Brian. He rushed over to where they were to see why she was crying.
"Why are you crying," Nick asked her with concern.
"Oh. Brian told me the story about what happened that night. I just started to cry because I can't believe that I didn't believe him... that's all. What are you doing here anyways," she asked wiping away her tears.
"I just wanted to come for a walk," Nick sighed.
"Nick, do you think I could talk to you really quick," Brian asked, getting off the bench.
"Yeah, sure," Nick said, then went over to Brian.
"Do you think I could talk to him alone," Brian asked Aimee.
"Oh, sorry. I will wait by my car," Aimee said, then walked off.
Brian turned and looked at Nick. Nick looked away from Brian. He felt like something was wrong because Brian had a strange look on his face.
"So Nick, you told Aimee to listen to what I had to say," Brian questioned him.
"Yeah, is that a problem," Nick asked, moving his feet nervously.
"When did you tell her that? Did you call her or something," Brian asked, raising his eyebrow.
"I went to her apartment like an hour ago. I just said that I didn't like to see you depressed, and she should listen to you. That's all," Nick said, crossing his arms.
"Oh. Thanks for doing that. Well, I am going to get to the point. Have you been seeing Aimee behind my back," Brian asked him.
