| Aimee didn't know what to do. She turned and started to walk away, but then turned back around. It was Brian. She knew it was. She couldn't forget his adorable face, curly blond hair, and his crystal blue eyes. He didn't look any different from the last time she saw him. But the last time she saw him was when he cheated on her. Or at least she thought he cheated on her. She walked back to where Brian was, sucked in her breath, and began to talk. "Hey Brian," Aimee said quietly. "Hi. How have you been," Brian asked her. "I have been good. How about you," she questioned him. "I'm okay. A little tired from touring, though," Brian said. "Um, sorry to cut in, but do you guys know each other or something," Nick asked them. "Yeah, we do. We used to go out, but we broke up about a year ago. You and the guys never saw her, though," Brian said, staring at her. "Oh, okay. Well, Brian, we have to get going," Nick said, pulling Brian by the arm. "Okay. Just a second," Brian said, then walked closer to Aimee. She looked at him with uncertainty in her eyes. He got really close, and she backed away a little bit. "So..." Aimee said. "Um, it was nice seeing you again. I was just wondering if you wanted to go to lunch tomorrow or something. Just to catch up on stuff," Brian asked her. "I don't know. Don't you have a girlfriend," Aimee asked him. "Yeah, but I don't think this would be a problem. It isn't a date or anything. We are over that," Brian told her. "I guess it's okay then. Here's my number. Call me tomorrow, so I can make sure I can come. I will see you," Aimee said, then walked away from him. "What the heck! You never told me that you went out with a Backstreet Boy," Christa said, running up to Aimee. "You didn't need to know. It's old news," Aimee said, going to Christa's car. "Old news! What do you mean old news?! This is huge," Christa said, getting into the car. "It's old news! Just leave it alone," Aimee screamed. Christa shut up and started up the car. They drove back to Aimee's apartment in silence. Aimee grabbed her stuff and got out of the car, when they got to the apartment. Christa sped away, and Aimee felt terrible because she yelled at her best friend. She yelled because she just didn't want to talk about it. She walked into her apartment and threw everything on the ground. She went over to her answering machine and saw that she had one message. She pressed play, and she heard Brian's voice from the small speaker. "Hey Aimee. Well, I knew that I said we would go to lunch tomorrow, but Nick is having a barbecue at his house tomorrow, and I wondered if you wanted to come to that instead. Everyone is going to be there. You can bring your friend, if you want. Call me back. My number is 836-9017. See you." Aimee picked up the phone and dialed the number that Brian left on his message. The phone rang two times, then she heard a women's voice on the other line. "Is Brian there," Aimee asked. "Yes, he is. Who is this speaking," the woman asked. "This is Aimee. I'm just a friend," she said. "Okay, just a second," the woman said, then handed the phone to Brian. "Hey Aimee," Brian said sweetly. "Hi. Um, about tomorrow. I really don't know where his house is. I don't even really know him," Aimee explained to him. "Oh, I know. I can come and pick you up, if you want me to. Or I could give you the directions," Brian said. "You better just give me the directions," Aimee said. "Oh. Okay. Let me get Nick. He will tell you," Brian said in a sad voice. Nick gave her the directions, and she hung up the phone without even talking to Brian again. She dialed one more number. Christa's number. She called so she could apologize and to ask her to come to the barbecue tomorrow. ******************************************************************************************** Brian looked at the picture of him and Aimee from a year ago. He always had it with him. He knew that he had a new girlfriend, but he didn't love her as much as he loved Aimee. He never stopped loving her. Then, he heard someone walking into his room. He quickly tried to put the picture back into the drawer, but Nick snatched it away from him and examined it. "Why do you still have this, Brian," Nick asked him. "I don't know. I guess I always wanted to be reminded of her," Brian said, taking the picture away from him. "Do you still love her," Nick asked, sitting down next to his best friend. Brian nodded sadly, put his head down, and put the picture away slowly. "But I thought you loved Leigh," Nick questioned Brian. "I do. But not the same way I love Aimee. I never stopped loving her. It's weird," Brian told Nick. "Why did you break up," Nick asked. "It's a long story," Brian said. "I have time. There's nothing else to do. Come on, tell me B-rok," Nick said, nudging him. "Okay," Brian sighed. |
