| Ashley, Jenny, and Kendra walked into their first class, and, surprisingly, they were the first ones in there. They all took a seat in the back left side corner of the room. They left a whole row behind them empty for their boyfriends, like they did every year. The seat behind Ashley was always empty. As time went on, more and more people came in, including Jenny and Kendra's boyfriends. This so- called "new boy" hadn't come in yet, so Ashley decided to ask Jenny about it. "So, Jenny... where's my new loverboy at," she asked, grinning. "Oh, don't worry. He'll be here," she replied, laughing. After a few more minutes of talking and waiting, Mrs. Greider brought in the "new boy." She talked to their teacher for a few minutes, and, then, she presented him to the class. "Hello, everyone," Mrs. Greider began. "This is Mr. Nick Carter." Just the sight of him made Ashley's eyes widen. Jenny was right. Ashley DID like him. She looked him up and down, loving every minute of it. His short, blond hair glistened in the sun coming in from the windows. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a blue button-up shirt over it and jeans. He was about 6 feet tall, maybe a little taller. After looking him up and down, she finally looked into his eyes. His eyes were so beautiful. They were the exact color of sapphires. He was, by far, the most gorgeous creature she had ever seen in her life. He must have felt her gaze, because he looked right back into her eyes and smiled. His smile was so perfect. All she could seem to do was grin, and, then, she looked down at her hands. Ever since she was young, she was never able to look into the eyes of the one she liked. She, then, realized that she really was attracted to him. After thinking for a few moments, Mrs. Greider interrupted her thoughts. "...and since he is new, I would appreciate it if someone would show him around." She paused and looked around the room. "Um... Ashley, will you be kind enough to show him around a bit?" Ashley was stunned. She was going to show the hottest guy, she had ever seen, around the school. She couldn't seem to choke out any words, so she just nodded and smiled. "Ok, thank you," Mrs. Greider said. She, then, turned to Nick and spoke again. "You can go take a seat behind her, so you can get to know her better." As Nick walked past her, she saw him smile at her. Her heart jumped into her throat, and her face turned a bright shade of red. Jenny must have seen her reaction, since she threw a note onto Ashley's desk. She picked it up and read it. It said: "Hey Ashley, I told you that you would like him. I think you two could make a really cute couple! I mean, he IS sitting in your "Boyfriend" seat, and you ARE going to be showing him around all day! He seems to really like you, too..." Ashley smiled and looked over at Jenny, who was also grinning. Ashley mouthed "shut up" to her and smiled again. She smiled back, and they both turned their attention back to the teacher. Ashley was so excited about it, that she couldn't seem to concentrate on her teacher's lecture. Just knowing that her ideal guy was right behind her, gave her chills. She was wondering if he was thinking the same thing as her. Time seemed to be going so slow before she was able to show him around. Finally, after what seemed like hours, the bell rang, indicating that the period was over. She gathered up her books and turned to Nick. He was staring attentively into her eyes. "Um... go get your books for the next class, and, uh, meet me at the stairs by the art room," she muttered, looking away from his eyes. "Alright," he said, wondering why she wouldn't look at him. She was the first girl that he noticed, and he really liked her. He thought she was so pretty. She looked so natural, and he loved that about girls. Her brown eyes seemed to light up the room, when you looked into them. Her lips went together into a beautiful smile. When she smiled, he felt almost obligated to smile back at her. Her smile was so addicting. But what he, especially, like about her was her hair. It's color was somewhere between red and brown, and it was long and really wavy. It looked really soft. All throughout class, he was so tempted to reach out and touch it. He just knew in his heart that they would become a couple, eventually. After he spoke, they both got up and went to their lockers. His voice had sent chills through her body. It was the first time she had ever heard him speak. His voice seemed sweeter than a million love songs. She knew she might be overreacting a little, but for the first time in a long time, she really liked someone... and they seemed to like her back. He just seemed too perfect. This whole situation just seemed too perfect. She smiled widely as she got out her books. Suddenly, Jenny interrupted her thoughts. "I can only wonder what you're smiling about," Jenny said, giggling. Ashley sighed. "You were right. I like him... a lot. I think maybe I will try a little harder to be with him. He seems like the kind of guy I want to start a relationship with," Ashley said, laughing. Kendra smiled. "Great! So... does that mean that you won't be walking with us to classes anymore," she asked. "I don't know! But I'm definitely not today. I have to show him around and stuff," Ashley replied. "Well, alright. We'll see you and your new loverboy in class, then," Jenny said, teasingly. "Ok, bye for now," Ashley laughed. As she started walking, a thought rushed over her, and she began to worry. "What if he doesn't like me, and it's just my imagination?... What if he thinks I'm ugly?... What if he dreads walking from class to class with me?... He probably hates me." She tried to just push all of these thoughts from her mind. She had so many insecurities, and they always seemed to overtake her thoughts. That's part of the reason why she never dated. "Maybe he likes me. I doubt he would have been smiling at me and all that stuff, if he didn't," she thought. "Well, if he does hate me, then he'll just have to deal with it," she muttered to herself, when she saw him. She, then, took a deep breath and walked up to him. |
