The hallway was really crowded, but he finally spotted Ashley walking towards him. She blended in so well with the crowd that he couldn't believe that he was able to find her. There were lots of people there. When she was just a few feet away, he smiled at her, nicely. She smiled back.
"Okay, follow me," Ashley said, as she purposely grabbed onto his hand. Her touch sent chills through Nick's body. It did the same to Ashley.
His grip seemed to tighten as she led him to their classroom. They, finally, got to a clearer part of the school. She knew that she didn't need to hold his hand anymore, but he didn't seem to want to let go. She didn't want to let go, either, so she didn't mind holding his hand at all.
When they reached the room, they both stopped. Ashley was looking down, not wanting to meet his eyes. Suddenly, she felt a slight squeeze on her hand. She looked up into his beautiful blue eyes, and he grinned at her. She blushed and looked away from him. Letting go of his hand, she smiled once more and walked into the room. He followed close behind.
She felt that no words really needed to be said between them. His eyes had said it all. She knew that he liked her. And she felt the same way.
All through class, she was looking forward to walking with him again. She was able to concentrate in class a little more, though, since he wasn't sitting right behind her. Even though he was way across the room from her, she would still look at him when she didn't think that he was paying any attention. He was just so stunning... so perfect.
He could feel her staring at him, even though she didn't know it. Everytime Nick would look back at her, she would quickly look away. He could tell that she was really shy, and he liked that about her. Out of all of the other girls that he had known, she was just so different... so perfect.
All of a sudden, they both had the same thought. Where were they going to meet after class? She quickly looked over at him, and he looked back.
"Meet me at the same place," she mouthed, silently. He understood what she said and mouthed an "okay" back in reply. He thought that it was strange that they were thinking the same thing at the same time.
They were both looking away from each other, and Ashley couldn't seem to help herself. She had to look at him once more. Nick could feel her eyes on him again. He looked at her, but this time she didn't look away. She stared into his sparkling eyes, as he stared into hers. She smiled sweetly at him, and he smiled his perfect smile right back at her.
Just then, Jenny, who was sitting right behind her, purposely poked her in the back. Ashley was really ticklish, so she jumped slightly from it. She turned around and gave her a what-the-hell-are-you -doing look. Jenny smiled teasingly at her. Laughing softly, Ashley shook her head and turned around. She knew that Jenny had seen her staring at him. Now, for the first time, she felt kind of embarressed for liking him.
After another very long period, the bell finally rang.
After gathering up her books, Ashley walked out the door and towards her locker. As she looked ahead through the crowd, she saw her friends talking and laughing about something. She knew exactly what they were talking about. She sighed and walked to her locker, knowing they were going to tease her about Nick.
When she got to her locker, she opened it loudly, and they all turned around to face her. Amber was the first to speak.
"Hey, Maria and I saw you walking to class holding Nick's hand, and Jenny said that you kept staring at him in class. I think you guys are getting pretty cozy together," she said, informatively.
"Whatever. I was just leading him to class," Ashley said, trying her hardest not to smile.
"What about all that staring that you were doing," Kendra asked.
"I wasn't staring. I was just trying to get his attention, so I could say where to meet me," Ashley replied.
"Oh, yeah right," Jenny yelled. "When he would look back at you, you would look away really fast. The last time you did it, you kept the stare and smiled at him! I had to poke you so you would stop it!"
"Okay believe what you want then," she said. She couldn't help smiling at this whole situation.
"Well, here comes your Romeo now," Amber said, looking behind Ashley.
"No he isn't. I told him I'd meet him... oh crap!" She spun around quickly.
"Hey, did you forget about me already," Nick asked, once he got up to her. All she could seem to do was stare at him. He looked so gorgeous. When she came back to her senses, she finally spoke.
"Uh, no..I mean, I guess I just got caught up in this conversation," she said, nervously. She heard her friends giggling softly, so she turned around and glared at them. They just smiled at her.
"Don't pay any attention to them," she said, turning back to Nick.
"Okay," he said, laughing. "So you wanna get going? We could be late for class." He then grabbed her hand, which made her blush slightly.
"Uh.. yeah," she said, as she turned back to her friends. "See you guys later!"
As she walked away, they all yelled "Bye", followed by a burst of giggles. All she did was smile
********************************************************************************************      When they were out of sight, Kendra spoke up for the first time about Nick.
"You know, he IS really hot," she said, grinning.
"Well don't start liking him," Jenny said. "We all promised each other a long time ago we'd never steal each other's boyfriends."
"I know. I'm just saying that I don't blame her for liking him. Besides, I have my own and he's hot, too," Kendra said, proudly. It was true. His name was Jeremy, and he moved there 2 years ago. Ever since he came there, they've gone out. Their relationship was pretty serious.
"Good. Do you all agree to leave Nick alone,"Jenny asked. They all nodded in agreement.
********************************************************************************************      In the next class, Ashley and Nick weren't together. He was in PE, and she was in Art.
Nick loved basketball. He loved it almost as much as scuba diving, since he came from Florida. He thought Illinois was too cold, and he missed the ocean. He only liked certain things here... like Ashley.
He made a few friends here, though, like Jeremy, so he asked about Ashley.
"Hey, do you know if Ashley has a boyfriend," Nick asked, hesitantly.
"Ashley? No, she doesn't... why," Jeremy wondered.
"No reason," Nick said, smiling. "She just nice to me. Very nice, actually."
"She probably likes you, since she not nice to any guy. I'm surprised," Jeremy said.
"Really? Well, I'm going to ask her out at lunch... when's that?" Nick asked.
"Fifth period... one more period left."
"Oh, great," Nick said sarcastically. Just then, the bell rang, and Nick ran out to go meet Ashley.
