What Is PBL?

Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization for business students at the college level. The organization's basic purpose is to provide opportunities for students to develop competencies for business occupations through an extension of the classroom. Participation in Phi Beta Lambda allows students to develop those "success" characteristics necessary for the business world. The national organization is comprised of nearly 15,000 members nationwide while the North Carolina State Chapter has nearly 1,000 members in over 40 local chapters at colleges and universities across the state.

How Do I Join PBL at Durham Tech?

Any business student or student who has an interest in business can join PBL (Business students include those enrolled in Accounting, Business Administration, Office Systems Technology, Information Systems, and Real Estate. In addition, University Transfer students planning to major in business at a senior institution are considered pre-business students.)

You can join Durham Technical Community College's (DTCC) PBL Chapter by paying your annual national/state/local membership dues of $20 for a 1-year membership (August 1 - July 31). Our meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m., Room 74, White Building.

For more information regarding PBL membership, please contact:
Mr. Terry C. Lowrance (DTCC Chapter Adviser)
Ms. Dorothea Eley (DTCC Chapter Adviser) or
Ms. Pam Parham-Jackson (2000-2001 DTCC Chapter President).
