Background

The Ecology Association of New Berlin was organized in 1971 on the first anniversary of Earth Day. This small but energetic group has worked hard to bring about changes in the quality of life in New Berlin and the surrounding area, and to increase the public's awareness of important environmental issues. The EANB has played an important role in recycling programs, bike trails, prairie restorations, natural landscaping, park cleanup, control of invasive species, and the preservation of environmentally important natural areas.

Current Projects

You can become involved with the important work done by the EANB either as a member or as a volunteer on special projects. Some of our current activities may be of interest to you:

Identifying open spaces worthy of permanent preservation
Inventorying and maintaining the Prairie Demonstration Plot
Controlling invasive plants in the Deer Creek Sanctuary
Reviewing updates to the New Berlin Zoning & Development Ordinances
Helping to plan future public educational meetings
Developing educational demonstrations on composting
