Soon Valley
Archealogy.

Salt Range;

is rich with animal fossils of pre historic age (63 million years )such as at sites chinji, Magri & Tatrot. Here Professor Pilbeam’s teams have collected a large number of animal fossils including those of Primates. Some of them are displayed in the Natural History Museum Islamabad. Recently near Chakwal at Bhan Amir Khatun, simmilar fossil’s were discovered . There is a big time gap between these fossil’s and stone age tools of late Pleistocene {about 40,000 years ago} at Numal Lack cave in Mianwali District. They are made on chart by early man who lived in rock shelters.

General Cunningham surveyed from Jalalpur to follow along Alexander’s route and gives details of Katas Temples. A comprehensive study of Hindu shahi forts and settlements has been made, illustrating some examples such as Nandana and Malot. In the Soon Valley old temples and other archaeological material is found on many places.
